What Owners Say
"Great acceleration and riding comfort"
Anonymous, CA (2010 Subaru Outback)"Infallible handling, even in deep snow. I feel like I can drive in any weather."
Sam E., MA (2010 Subaru Outback)"Awsome in bad weather and especially in the snow"
Peter W., NY (2010 Subaru Outback)"For a 4 cylinder engine, acceleration is great. Handling is good but not great."
Robert W., NC (2010 Subaru Outback)"It does not accelerate as well as the Subaru Impreza I used to own, especially driving up steep inclines. Handles going around curves well."
Stephanie S., NY (2010 Subaru Outback)"Car rocks & bounces due to high center of gravity and springy suspension. Would prefer a tighter suspension."
Anonymous, AZ (2010 Subaru Outback)"Feels firmly planned in all situations. Throttle response is abrupt and the brakes are sure, but the pedal feel it's mushy"
Jim O., KY (2010 Subaru Outback)"We do very little driving in high density, urban type of traffic so drive less aggressively when we are in it. Vehicle is more than satisfactory for the type of driving that we do as far as acceleration and handling is concerned."
Anonymous, ON (2010 Subaru Outback)"plenty power. smooth ride"
Anonymous, WY (2010 Subaru Outback)"Great excelleration. The six cylinder provides plenty of power. The heavier weight does require more steer input from driver"
Anonymous, MI (2010 Subaru Outback)"The Outback handles well but acceleration is a little sluggish, especially to our 2014 Forester."
Anonymous, IL (2010 Subaru Outback)"4 cylinder is ok, but if you're looking for power, this heavier than average car needs a bigger engine."
Marc F., MN (2010 Subaru Outback)"six cylinder engine makes for a smooth responsive ride. Would not buy the 4 cylinder"
Alex W., MA (2010 Subaru Outback)"all wheel drive helps in winter"
Anonymous, IL (2010 Subaru Outback)"Vehicle drives smoothly considering it is only a 2.5 litre engine."
Anonymous, FL (2010 Subaru Outback)"Being all wheel drive my 2010 Subaru Outback can motor through anything. You never have to worry about it gripping and staying on the road rain, snow or shine."
Anonymous, FL (2010 Subaru Outback)"Handling is good. Acceleration is adequate but would be nice to have a little more."
Anonymous, MN (2010 Subaru Outback)"Drive control in snow and visibility when changing lanes"
Anonymous, MD (2010 Subaru Outback)"A bit sluggish acceleration and soft on handling"
Eric-Kenzie B., WA (2010 Subaru Outback)"It has the 3.6L V6 engine so its acceleration is awesome compared to the 4 cylinder 2.5 L."
Anonymous, NC (2010 Subaru Outback)"While it doesn't have amazing pick-up when overtaking, It handles very well on curves. It feels as if it hugs the road."
Anonymous, CA (2010 Subaru Outback)"Very reliable"
Gregory F., FL (2010 Subaru Outback)"With the 6 cylinder engine, acceleration is terrific. (The 4 it tested was whimpy. The sacrifice of 2 m.p.g. was worth it.) Vehicle handles well and is very tight. No sign of any aging after over 8 years. Terrific!"
Richard N., MA (2010 Subaru Outback)"Poor acceleration Rolly-polly handling at high speeds"
Anonymous, CO (2010 Subaru Outback)"Don't expect it to be a race car however it drives like a tank on winter roads."
Anonymous, AB (2010 Subaru Outback)"It is very responsive, rides quite smoothly and handles very well."
D S., AZ (2010 Subaru Outback)"Very good handling in snow / ice."
Anonymous, MN (2010 Subaru Outback)"extremely slow acceleration"
Anonymous, OH (2010 Subaru Outback)"Car is very smooth. Accelerates well for an AWD. The 6 cylinder engine makes a HUGE difference. I've had 4 cylinder Outbacks for loaners from the Dealership and they are all dogs! Still not a big fan of the CVT tranny. If you're going to get an Outback, get a 6 cylinder."
Anonymous, OH (2010 Subaru Outback)"Most comfortable car Ive ever owned."
Mike B., VA (2010 Subaru Outback)"I wish I would have purchased two or three of these vehicles. I drive long distance and find it to be very trustworthy on the road."
Anonymous, OH (2010 Subaru Outback)"It accelerates and handles worse than my 93 Toyota pickup truck"
Patricia D., CA (2010 Subaru Outback)"Fast, quick, stops well."
Jack L., NJ (2010 Subaru Outback)"Great handling and acceleration"
Anonymous, CA (2010 Subaru Outback)"Good acceleration and handling with an added 19mm rear anti-roll bar."
Richard L., TX (2010 Subaru Outback)"The acceleration is excellent and this car has proven to be a great road trip car. My wife does not fly so we always drive and never fly"
Rakesh C., CO (2010 Subaru Outback)"Durability, engine, exterior, reliability."
David O., MD (2010 Subaru Outback)"Great performance with V6 engine and AWD."

Dave S., WA (2010 Subaru Outback)"I've driven many different vehicles in snow and ice. This vehicle might be the most surefooted of them all."
Lowell F., MB (2010 Subaru Outback)"Jerky acceleration. Dangerous in slippery condition. Engine noise excessive."
Bill C., MI (2010 Subaru Outback)"A little underpowered. Handles well. Decent acceleration."
Anonymous, NH (2010 Subaru Outback)"The Outback's handling is secure. The 2,5 liter 4-cyl engine is not bad but lacks authority"
Anonymous, CA (2010 Subaru Outback)"Great for a 4 cylinder"
Anonymous, CA (2010 Subaru Outback)"Difficulty seeing out rear when backing. Limited visibility because of rear seat headrests and small rear window."
Vernon H., FL (2010 Subaru Outback)"Good acceleration and handles great in the snow."
Anonymous, UT (2010 Subaru Outback)"The car has adequate acceleration and excellent handling"
John F., VT (2010 Subaru Outback)"The acceleration and handling are certainly adequate for us oldsters."
Anonymous, IL (2010 Subaru Outback)"Responsive & the accelerator is not as sensitive as the Forrester."
Richard C., NY (2010 Subaru Outback)"Car is easy to drive and handles well in snow and ice- was the only vehicle getting through on our snow covered forest roads due to its higher clearance and sure footed handling. Much better than my expensive German sedan with 4WD"
J C., OR (2010 Subaru Outback)"adequate acceleration and great handling in adverse weather."
Anonymous, NM (2010 Subaru Outback)"Head room was lacking a little, but they resolved that in later models. Everything else has been well worth every penny spent. Snow storms - never stuck. Front driver tire dropped into an unexpected 2-foot deep hole. The bumper pins broker and disconnected the bumper. Cost $50 in labor and a new pin to put back in place. This car is made to take a bit of a hard hit with a class act comeback."
Denise O., WI (2010 Subaru Outback)"powerful response even after 7 years, excellent in winter wearther"
Anonymous, ON (2010 Subaru Outback)"Comfortable on long trips."
Stephen W., NC (2010 Subaru Outback)"6 cylinder engine is smooth and powerful, with effortless acceleration and sure footed handling."
Anonymous, KY (2010 Subaru Outback)"I've had this since new. It drives smoothly and responsively. I love the handling."
D S., AZ (2010 Subaru Outback)"Very predictable handling, 6 cylinder engine gives more than adequate acceleration, great car for bad weather."
Donald S., MA (2010 Subaru Outback)"Great accelation and handling"
Anonymous, FL (2010 Subaru Outback)"I really like the ride and handling of the 2010 Outback. I hear Subaru has stiffened the ride in newer models. But for me, in New England, where the roads are consistently in bad shape, I like the softer ride. Acceleration is not great but good enough for day to day. It's certainly no sports car."
James A., MA (2010 Subaru Outback)"The car handles very well. I have never had any problems getting around even in heavy snow."
Anonymous, MA (2010 Subaru Outback)"poor acceleration"
Art G., NJ (2010 Subaru Outback)"Always does what I need regradless od weather/ traffic conditions. This vehicle is a plesure to drive."
Anonymous, OH (2010 Subaru Outback)"Weak on acceleration on mountain roads."
Mike S., CA (2010 Subaru Outback)"Initial acceleration is abrupt, which is especially dangerous on slippery roads."
Bill C., MI (2010 Subaru Outback)"Still drives well at 140k miles."
Dennis W., VT (2010 Subaru Outback)"Slow and noisy acceleration"
H M., DE (2010 Subaru Outback)"Works well for driving dirt roads (good clearance) and snowy roads."
Anonymous, CA (2010 Subaru Outback)"I love how my Subaru handles in all types of weather. I use all season tires and never had needed to use studded tires because of how well it handles in the snow/ice. We have the V6 and the pick up is amazing."
Anonymous, ID (2010 Subaru Outback)"The acceleration lags and is slow on the Outback."
KIMBERLY V., WI (2010 Subaru Outback)"On the highway, in distinction from in town/city, we average 30-37 mpg."
Anonymous, CA (2010 Subaru Outback)"This is the first year of the redesigned outback. Ordered the v6 because I didn't like the CVT transmission in the four cylinder. The six cylinder has tremendous acceleration, but the hesitation in the electronic programming for the throttle is disconcerting during a rolling stop. There is also suspension noises coming from the from end when going over bumps, which has been checked at the dealership a few times only to be told that everything is tight. Not impressed."
THOMAS D., NH (2010 Subaru Outback)"I like the CVT transmission. It feels more powerful than I would expect for a 4 cylinder engine."
JAMES P., MI (2010 Subaru Outback)"I am a nurse and have to get to work no mater how bad the weather is. This care has gotten me to where I need to be every time."
Anonymous, NY (2010 Subaru Outback)"Acceleration is not great when there are 4 adults in the car when merging on the highway. Have to really press the gas pedal down to get up to speed quickly. Handling on non-smooth roads makes the car bounce all over. Have to grab a hold of the wheel tightly."
RICHARD L., NY (2010 Subaru Outback)"Sense of safety on the road. Handles well, solid frame, all wheel drive protects occasional need to divert to muddy roadside, seats high enough for good visibility"
Anonymous, NC (2010 Subaru Outback)"It lacks good acceleration but handles well & gets good mileage."
WILLIAM M., CA (2010 Subaru Outback)"Suspension just right for my driving. Acceleration, well, I miss the turbo in my 2005 Outback, but not having to use premium gas. I want the mileage, or I'd get the 6 cylinder."
CAROL A., NJ (2010 Subaru Outback)"The 2010 Outback's suspension system makes it difficult to fell 100% in control when turning. The backend of the car feels like it is going to give-out and slides in the opposite direction of the turn."
Anonymous, CT (2010 Subaru Outback)"we have had recently, lots of vibration and had read about this happening. We've taken it into the dealer twice and they say they can't find anything wrong with it. However, the vibration (which is not constant) continues to happen."
Anonymous, IA (2010 Subaru Outback)"It gets me where I want to go in the snow."
CARL S., NJ (2010 Subaru Outback)"Room inside Ease to drive Good mileage"
ROBERT C., AZ (2010 Subaru Outback)"good handling"
LARRY S., PA (2010 Subaru Outback)"just love the oerall vehicle except the styling like the 2005 and 2006 body style of oduback wagon"
LARRY B., NJ (2010 Subaru Outback)"Drives great in the snow without chains, the AWD works wonders and saves major time not having to deal with chains."
Anonymous, CA (2010 Subaru Outback)"Its winter/snow/bad weather performance is superb."
Anonymous, PA (2010 Subaru Outback)"Cornering and handling could be improved. Reduce road clearance by 2 inches ?"
CHRIS T., NJ (2010 Subaru Outback)"Handling. I live at 7,600 ft. on East side of Rocky Mountains. Roads coming down from this elevation are very curvy with many sharp turns. Had WRX/STI rear stabilizer bar installed by Dealer($250 parts and labor) greatly improving handling, mainly understeer. Can only do this on 2010-12 models."
GEORGE M., CO (2010 Subaru Outback)"Good acceleration with the 4 cylinder engine and CVT transmission. Handles well on snow and ice. Downside is a nagging shimmey in the steering wheel at highway speeds that the dealer was never able to rectify."
ROBERT W., VA (2010 Subaru Outback)"Excellent pickup speed and superior handling. I feel comfortable and secure in this vehicle in all driving conditions in the Pacific Northwest."
MENA Q., WA (2010 Subaru Outback)"The 2.4 L engine and manual transmission are inadequate for the heavier weight of the larger 2010. I've had the clutch replaced twice. I've had the transmission rebuilt twice also."
JEFF W., CA (2010 Subaru Outback)"The only problem I had was that I did not realize how wide it was, which causes problems in parking"
TOM J., OR (2010 Subaru Outback)"Superb acceleration and handling under the most dangerous conditions."
JACK L., NJ (2010 Subaru Outback)"4 cylinder has great acceleration and gets good gas mileage."
Anonymous, OH (2010 Subaru Outback)"Good - Highway MPGs. Visibility Bad - Weak acceleration. Sloppy handling. Steering wheel vibration at around 55 MPH"
Anonymous, PA (2010 Subaru Outback)"not a big fan of CVT engines. too noisy although the newer ones are quieter. I will test drive maybe a 2017 outbavk to determine engine noise of cvt."
Anonymous, PA (2010 Subaru Outback)"We opted for the 6 cylinder engine because we live in the mountains and need the power for uphill driving. AND I LOVE LOVE LOVE the higher clearance, as it makes it much easier to get in and out of the car as well as handling dirt roads."
SUSAN C., NC (2010 Subaru Outback)"acceleration is sluggish. It doesn't handle as beautifully in automatic as it does in gear"
CLAUDIA S., CA (2010 Subaru Outback)"slow acceleration as compared to the 2013"
ARTHUR G., NJ (2010 Subaru Outback)"We had his and her Porsches (911/CayenneS). Because our Subaru has a flat 6 engine just like my old 911, the lower center of gravity makes handling similar to Porsches!!! We lent this car to our daughter and she raves about the acceleration and handling."
Anonymous, CA (2010 Subaru Outback)"evan after 6+ year the car handles very will. the 3.6R engine is very responsive"
Anonymous, VT (2010 Subaru Outback)
