Includes acceleration and handling
What Owners Say
"The acceleration is so so but I guess acceptable for a 4-cylinder. I do not like the lack of control over certain functions like lane departure, and control over other functions when in reverse."
TIM R., NM (2015 Subaru Outback)"I purchased the 6 cylinder engine in my Subaru. It has excellent acceleration and power to pull a 1800 lb boat. I have never owned a car with this kind of response."
Anonymous, MI (2015 Subaru Outback)"Could use a little more power but it has handled everything so far"
RUDY G., UT (2015 Subaru Outback)"It has a very touchy acceleration, almost a lurching effect. The dealer says this is normal because of the type of transmission that is used to give better gas mileage. It still is uncomfortable."
CHRISTEN A., WA (2015 Subaru Outback)"handling"
Anonymous, FL (2015 Subaru Outback)"It handles solidly for an SUV and the acceleration is very good."
BEN B., NC (2015 Subaru Outback)"Too much delay when transmission engages into Drive"
GLEN J., OR (2015 Subaru Outback)"Somewhat sluggish acceleration until it warms up, then pretty peppy, possibly because of the unusual engineering of the transmission"
Anonymous, CO (2015 Subaru Outback)"for a very capable AWD with high ground clearance, the steering is tight, and car feels comfortable cornering. the 3.6R performs very well, and the mock shifting of the CVT is kind of exciting when you put your foot into it."
BENJAMIN V., CA (2015 Subaru Outback)"Engine very noisy during acceleration, but is very quiet otherwise."
CARL C., OH (2015 Subaru Outback)"3.6 has plenty of get up and go, Can handle the hills and elevation of CO"
Anonymous, CA (2015 Subaru Outback)"3.6L. very good acceleration, powerful engine, holds the road, good traction on wet and snow, excellent for our mountain regions"
Anonymous, WY (2015 Subaru Outback)"Excellent acceleration."
P T., UT (2015 Subaru Outback)"Very smooth ride compared to others in category."
Anonymous, ON (2015 Subaru Outback)"handles differently than my previous 1999 Outback. Has taken some getting used to, especially when parking"
STEPHEN M., OR (2015 Subaru Outback)"sits up high, nice ride"
STEVEN L., NV (2015 Subaru Outback)"Electronic parking brake should release when stepping on the gas. Doesn't always release automatically. Haven't reported to service. Brake and transmission locked up ONCE. All released ok after turning engine off and restarting. Also not reported to service."
HEINZ S., NY (2015 Subaru Outback)"The ability to slowly accelerate from a stop is outstanding. The turning radius is very good. However, the steering seems too tight in the center for me, i.e. a little movement of the steering wheel throws me too much off course. Chrysler Corp's variable ratio steering circa 2001 was much better in this respect."
Anonymous, IL (2015 Subaru Outback)"This car with the 3.6 engine can really go when called upon. I sold BMWs in the 1970's and have driven their current models as well. I would say that our Outback is just as tight in its handling. The Eye Sight system enhances the safety when used properly."
JAMES S., IL (2015 Subaru Outback)"Sloppy handling, especially around corners/turns. The sedan version handles much better."
Anonymous, MD (2015 Subaru Outback)"The cruise control does not slow down when going down hill and the Suris radio has trouble connecting"
THOMAS B., CT (2015 Subaru Outback)"The acceleration is decent on the 3.6r, but from a stop its a bit more lethargic than it should be. A snappier 0 to whatever acceleration would be really nice."
Anonymous, CA (2015 Subaru Outback)"Really like how it handles moderate to deep snow road conditions and heavy rain situations"
Anonymous, MI (2015 Subaru Outback)"The 4 Cylinder engine is adequate for cruising but it's under-powered and noisy when accelerating or passing. The all wheel drive is a nice plus."
Anonymous, OH (2015 Subaru Outback)"Acceleration & handling excellent. Dashboard lighting could be better, especially clock should be larger."
Anonymous, AB (2015 Subaru Outback)"Really like the CVT. Requires far less shifting to maintain speed on uphill sections than a geared tranny"
J B., CA (2015 Subaru Outback)"4cyl feels somewhat underpowered to me. I drive many different vehicals as a transporter for Hertz Auto Renral. I would not buy another 4cyl Outback. Also, the outside temp and clock are way too difficult to read, bordering on dangerous when driving and attempting to read the small printout on the center info space."
DAVID N., WI (2015 Subaru Outback)"Very comfortable car to ride in very good gas mileage for that type car"
Anonymous, NY (2015 Subaru Outback)"Very slow first gear. Trying to merge into traffic can be tricky."
LARRY R., NM (2015 Subaru Outback)"It has a V6, and I often pull a 6x12 covered aluminum trailer. Handles VERY well with the trailer."
MURRAY S., ND (2015 Subaru Outback)"I like the overall feel and look of the vehicle. I like sitting higher than a sedan which helps allow for a better high visual horizon, and it is more comfortable when getting in and out of the car. I am disappointed with the CVT. The power is not responsive enough for QUICK acceleration such as getting on a freeway with a short on-ramp. Even when accelerating from a stop, or getting up enough speed to make a safe lane change the power feels lacking. I drove professionally for 26 years, an"
Anonymous, CA (2015 Subaru Outback)"I have a 4 cylinder and acceleration when motor is cold is slower than I would be like. Will buy 6 cylinder next time."
Anonymous, NC (2015 Subaru Outback)"I have Subaru's "Eyesight" adaptive cruise control and love it. I use it all the time and it particularly is handy in slow-and-go traffic. This is our second Outback."
BERNIE S., FL (2015 Subaru Outback)"It's just a nice vehicle"
STUART-BARBARA G., NC (2015 Subaru Outback)"GPS is off by at least 1/2 mile and cannot be changed while moving. Back up camera and alarms miss largest UPS trucks and even people within in feet of the car. Body has tons of dents from parking etc. This is contrary to the TV advertising where the kids toys hit the car again and again. Drives and handles great in dry weather and gets better in bad weather. Seats are some of the best i've ever ridden in. Display is too reflective. Minor software bugs on the audio do not allow changing"
Anonymous, NE (2015 Subaru Outback)"The acceleration and engine control of this car makes it boring. You can push it to accelerate when its needed but for every day driving it is un-inspiring."
ROBERT H., NE (2015 Subaru Outback)"good acceleration and driving position"
Anonymous, MI (2015 Subaru Outback)"The handling is superb, no complaints here. Acceleration is odd, quick pickup and then a flattening our causing the need to accelerate more aggressively. This is the only complaint I have with this vehicle (except that they eliminated the manual transmission on the 2015 model.)"
Anonymous, CA (2015 Subaru Outback)"The CVT takes some getting use to especially when starting out. Acceleration is good, no problems merging onto a highway."
PAUL P., NH (2015 Subaru Outback)"Isn't solid feeling."
Anonymous, CO (2015 Subaru Outback)"4-cylinder performance is barely adequate; will get 6-cyl next time"
ROBERT P., TX (2015 Subaru Outback)"Does not accelerate smoothly when putting my foot to the gas. It takes a second and then bam with a jerk you are off."
Anonymous, IN (2015 Subaru Outback)"Subaru is first car to have eyesight navigation control. Using it or not you should never have an accident hitting the car in front of you. This car no matter what model stops you before you hit an object in front of you!"
DONALD K., FL (2015 Subaru Outback)"Car handles well and 4 cylinder engine usually has plenty of power. If I were buying it today I would likely get the six cylinder as it only costs about 1 mpg in fuel economy."
ROBERT K., MD (2015 Subaru Outback)"It's wonderful. I love to drive it"
KARIN C., OH (2015 Subaru Outback)"Acceleration a bit slow"
Anonymous, NC (2015 Subaru Outback)"I got the 3.6 and the acceleration with the 6 is great."
JOHN F., FL (2015 Subaru Outback)"The 4-cylinder is kind of wimpy. The transmission is like a cycling road bike type of shifting. It jumps around a lot trying to find the right gear and never stays in one gear long enough to get good acceleration like when you are merging on the freeway."
LUKE S., CA (2015 Subaru Outback)"The Outback has responsive steering and good acceleration with the 6cyl engine. Three is limited engine and wind noise with this car."
Anonymous, NY (2015 Subaru Outback)"The performance, noise, economy definitely justifies the extra money paid for a six cylinder. I have owned both and really appreciate the 6 cylinder engine in my 2015 Outback."
JAMES B., WA (2015 Subaru Outback)"CVT transmission is sluggish, compared to older automatic transmission in old forester"
SCOTT A., ON (2015 Subaru Outback)"Very smooth comfortable and quieter than any car I've owned. Excellent acceleration as well. Also less wind nose even with windows open."
Anonymous, OR (2015 Subaru Outback)"The engine sounds as if it's straining when accelerating. Other that that, all is good."
MICHAEL S., AZ (2015 Subaru Outback)"Quick acceleration and good turn control. But the best part about this car is the Eye-sight controls. When I am on the road for 8 hours it hardly seems like it at all. Because I don't have to keep moving my foot from accelerator to break, it saves so much physical energy. I was astounded. This is the ver best part of this car. I wasn't even aware of what it did till after I purchased the car. Now I will never own a car without it."
DANA M., OK (2015 Subaru Outback)"I was truly surprised at the quick acceleration and responsiveness of the 4 clinder engine due to the car's size. It is the first car I owned that has a tight turning radius. Response is quick and car holds the road. No sway around corners or curves."
KARIN G., OH (2015 Subaru Outback)"This is my fifth Subaru and first one with a 6 cyl. engine. When I consider replacing the 2015 Outback I will opt for a 6 cyl. again. Smooth steady acceleration and when you need it on the freeway power to move ahead."
R O., CA (2015 Subaru Outback)"My husband would have purchased the higher horsepower auto but I feel what we have works very well. Being older, we love the "Eyesight" package. We feel it makes both of us better drivers because you need to signal before moving and it tells you when you are over/out of the lane."
Anonymous, VA (2015 Subaru Outback)"The 6 cylinder engine allows me to tow a loaded trailer and also has great acceleration for passing."
Anonymous, IL (2015 Subaru Outback)"Slow acceleration, blind spots on rearview mirrors, rear wiper blade always a problem. Burns oil, approx. 1 qt per 1500 miles."
JAMES C., IN (2015 Subaru Outback)"Only unexpected disappointing features are the engine is noisy and the navigation system is poor compared to Google Maps on iPhone and the mileage is less than what was posted."
Anonymous, MO (2015 Subaru Outback)"Most comfortable, best handling and quietest non-luxury SUV on the market. From 2015 on, it is 600% better than the Forrester. You are so stupid, you don't even classify or compare the Outback to other SUVs WHHHYYYYY NOT? Best, most efficient SUV on market."
DALE P., KS (2015 Subaru Outback)"It accelerates well but I think it is just a bit rugged for us. I changed the anti-sway bar to lessen roll and a little better handling in the city"
Anonymous, ON (2015 Subaru Outback)"I have a high level of confidence when driving this vehicle. It handles the road extremely well"
MARY A., CT (2015 Subaru Outback)"All good and satisfactory"
ARTHUR D., AB (2015 Subaru Outback)"Not very peppy when trying to merge on the toll way. It is an automatic transmission, but it jerks as you start forward from a full stop. I have driven another Subaru, same model and year as mine, and it did the same thing."
Anonymous, IL (2015 Subaru Outback)"Acceleration is very good considering it's a 4 cylinder engine with a CVT. Handling is good, but especially awesome in snow. Considering the large cargo space, it's amazing that it gets mileage in the high 20s generally, up to 32 mpg on trips."
BARB C., PA (2015 Subaru Outback)"Under powered. Drive system occasionally doesn't know what gear to be in."
J D., CA (2015 Subaru Outback)"Acceleration adequate, a few more hp would be nice, but gas mileage may suffer. Still amazed in how the Outback with the 18 rims handles in the twisty mountain roads. And, the full time 4 wheel drive is reassuring."
Anonymous, CA (2015 Subaru Outback)"Better acceleration than expected"
Anonymous, FL (2015 Subaru Outback)"Paddle shifting makes mountain driving more enjoyable. No constant braking on mountain curves and hills."
C B., CO (2015 Subaru Outback)"Eyesight system is fantastic, Fun to drive"
WILLIAM S., PA (2015 Subaru Outback)"If we had it to do over, we'd probably choose the V-6 engine for more acceleration during passing situations."
Anonymous, NC (2015 Subaru Outback)"For the price that I paid for this vehicle, the engine should have a bit more power than this vehicle does."
Anonymous, CA (2015 Subaru Outback)"4 cylinder car acceleration is a little slow, little road feel, not particularly fun to drive (my previous Forester was more fun to drive)"
Anonymous, IL (2015 Subaru Outback)"Shifting is rough"
Anonymous, OR (2015 Subaru Outback)"It is a joy to drive as its safety feature (cameras, etc) keep it and us mindful of all around us. The handling is the best of any car we've ever owned and the seats are a perfect fit for whomever is driving. Climate controls maintain an optimum comfort for everyone in the vehicle."
ROBERT B., UT (2015 Subaru Outback)"Exhilaration is to brisk, from standing still to the start of acceleration there is a significant jump. The Subaru dealer/service center took no interest in assessing this and we were told that it was "normal"."
Anonymous, MA (2015 Subaru Outback)"Acceleration is weak."
RAYMOND H., AZ (2015 Subaru Outback)"Extremely good in snow conditions The GPS not accurate, might need update? EyeSight does not work when snow is falling"
JAN B., CA (2015 Subaru Outback)"Love the adaptive cruise control, and the eyesight"
RICHARD K., CT (2015 Subaru Outback)"This car accelerates great! However, beware of the BREAKING issue! It was fine the first 500 miles and then after that ithe became a real scary thing!!! Still can'take seem to get the breaks back to the way they were in the beginning! Buyer Beware!"
Anonymous, VA (2015 Subaru Outback)"On initial acceleration fairly noisy. I'm told it is the CVS transmission."
ROBERT S., TX (2015 Subaru Outback)"Acceleration is not terribly fast, but handling and gas mileage is quite good. We achieved 37 measured MPG on a 1000 mile trip with the A/C running all the time."
STEPHEN L., AZ (2015 Subaru Outback)"Wonderful handling in bad weather; best vehicle available for snow. Factory tires hydroplaned and were replaced after our first rainstorm; excellent handling with proper tires."
Anonymous, CO (2015 Subaru Outback)"The Subaru Outback is a great car. I am usually a sports car enthusiast. I bought this car because of my partner and the fact that I have a new born son. I am impressed by the way the car drives. I would never thought that I would like a car like this. It is no sport car but it is great car to drive"
Anonymous, ON (2015 Subaru Outback)"Love the general responsiveness of the handling. The acceleration is adequate."
JOYCE H., AR (2015 Subaru Outback)"Very good acceleration. The best parallel parking car I have ever owned."
Anonymous, FL (2015 Subaru Outback)"I bought the 4 cylinder but wish i had gotten the 6. It could use more power."
RICHARD B., MI (2015 Subaru Outback)"I feel the automatic transmission does not respond quickly, and it is "mushy.""
Anonymous, NY (2015 Subaru Outback)"Subaru's fly-by-wire accelerator is based on a linear taper curve rather than an audio tape curve, which makes the lower range of the pedal very touchy."
TIM S., CO (2015 Subaru Outback)"I have the 3.6 liter engine so the acceleration is strong. However, the handling is not as good as I like. Perhaps it's simply that the car has a high centre of gravity, but the Golf is far superior in its handling. I'd rate the handling of the Outback as my least satisfying experience of the entire vehicle. Unfortunately, I haven't driven other SUV-like vehicles for comparison."
SCOTT D., ON (2015 Subaru Outback)"4 cylinder is fine for around town but weak acceleration getting onto the highway is annoying"
ARTHUR L., UT (2015 Subaru Outback)"Fun to drive"
Anonymous, CA (2015 Subaru Outback)"I Love love love the all wheel drive. wish it had a little more oomph"
REGINA M., NY (2015 Subaru Outback)"Acceleration is mediocre"
Anonymous, AZ (2015 Subaru Outback)"It is quick and nimble. It is stable as a rock at 100mph and still wants to go. It also crawls up a mountain pathway like a goat!"
ARTHUR L., VA (2015 Subaru Outback)"The Outback drives like a brick, but that is not bad, rather exactly what I expected from this car. It handles snow, curbs and unpaved roads very well, which is one of the reasons I got the car."
Anonymous, NJ (2015 Subaru Outback)"To me the Outback seems a little bit under powered on the highway. Down shifts a lot on small hills.."
E E., KY (2015 Subaru Outback)"The Handling is fine the acceleration needs work. also eats gas at a big clip if you try and accelerate up hills"
Anonymous, CT (2015 Subaru Outback)"the searching for gears with the CVT can sometimes get annoying"
Anonymous, WA (2015 Subaru Outback)"Peppy acceleration but busy ride on bumpy roads. 4 wheel drive is fantastic!"
MERRY B., VA (2015 Subaru Outback)"4cyl lacked power on back roads at high elevations"
RICHARD I., CO (2015 Subaru Outback)"GREAT CAR FOR THEORY MONEY."
Anonymous, CT (2015 Subaru Outback)"Per previous comment - feels like it is stressed to go up even a small hill when it first gets started. Loud engine noise. Told dealer - they brushed me off"
Anonymous, OH (2015 Subaru Outback)"For it's size, it handles pretty well. The gear selector lags--but in part perhaps that's because I'm used to driving a stick shift and this car is an automatic."
Anonymous, NY (2015 Subaru Outback)"Transmission problems at low speeds Delay in acceleration going from R to D"
Anonymous, NH (2015 Subaru Outback)"The car has iSight feature that is accident avoidance while in cruise control. It worked perfectly during a recent trip following another car. It kept the set distance while accelerating and slowing to their speed. This feature is worth the price!"
G H., FL (2015 Subaru Outback)"I might have gone with a six cylinder - vice four - because of the slightly higher engine noise when accelerating up steep hills in this area."
Anonymous, WA (2015 Subaru Outback)"Eye Control system really works great. On cruise control it monitors cars in front and slows down if needed. I had a car cut in front of me and would have it my passenger side front end but the eye control system braked even before I could react. Definitely worth the money. The four cylinder engine has more than enough power to get me up the mountains and the 4 wheel drive works great in the snow."
Anonymous, CA (2015 Subaru Outback)"The acceleration off the line is ok but once you get some to middle speeds the acceleration is almost dangerously slow. Car is definitely under powered."
EVAN K., NC (2015 Subaru Outback)"Acceleration is adequate for the size of the vehicle and the 4 cyl. engine. Very sure footed on wet roads and in snow."
WILLIAM F., MD (2015 Subaru Outback)"Acceleration is stellar, handling in snow is flawless and no chains required!"
LAWRENCE G., CA (2015 Subaru Outback)"Good Pick-up and acceleration when needed."
Anonymous, CT (2015 Subaru Outback)"Eyesight is wonderful, but you have to stay on your toes.. Occasionally brakes when detected threat not that bad.."lane only blocked by several inches by another vehicle"
Anonymous, MN (2015 Subaru Outback)"Excellent handling car. No lean in corners, Very responsive steering and braking. Our 3rd Outback and the best."
Anonymous, BC (2015 Subaru Outback)"Drives nicely. Particularly like the safety features and adaptive cruise control."
Anonymous, NY (2015 Subaru Outback)"It hesitates when the accelerator is "floored" when it is completely stopped. (ie: needing to merge into moving traffic from a dead-stop) My biggest complaint is how it poorly it handles in a cross-wind... very scary when hit by a sudden gust from a cross-wind while traveling 70mph!!"
ANNETTE B., MT (2015 Subaru Outback)"It is a 4 cylinder and it performs very well in normal driving but is weak and noisy in hard acceleration. It handles much better than one would expect for a big wagon but is still a big wagon. And by the way it really does get 7 L/100 km (in mostly highway driving)"
HUTCH H., ON (2015 Subaru Outback)"The Adaptive Cruise Control and the Eye-Sight safety provisions make driving a real pleasure."
LARS W., ON (2015 Subaru Outback)"TOO MUCH FRONT WHEEL TORQUE FELT UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS"
JOHN S., OR (2015 Subaru Outback)"the "Hill Holder" function doesn't seem to be consistently reliable"
Anonymous, MA (2015 Subaru Outback)"The acceleration is much better than the 2013 model. I don't like the audio system as much, though, for it's more complicated. While I have no problem using the radio on the 2013 system, I've given up listening to it in my 2015 Outback, as I can't seem to find or select the stations I prefer. I also don't like the push-button ignition due to safety/theft concerns."
Anonymous, ME (2015 Subaru Outback)"Excellent ride very quiet and good performance."
L J., MO (2015 Subaru Outback)"Excellent steering and handling, acceleration is ok but not Snappy"
Anonymous, UT (2015 Subaru Outback)"I hate that shift points are programed into the CVT."
BILL K., WI (2015 Subaru Outback)"Acceleration is very good but there is too much lean in curves."
JOHN J., WA (2015 Subaru Outback)"Overall not too bad. 4cyl lacks some punch."
ALAN B., MA (2015 Subaru Outback)"Handling is excellent, but acceleration is weak with the 4 cylinder engine. I wish I'd gotten the 6 cylinder."
Anonymous, NH (2015 Subaru Outback)"It is an all wheel drive vehicle with considerable carrying capacity and feels a little truck i.e., but nothing like a real truck."
Anonymous, MA (2015 Subaru Outback)"Handling is fantastic but it seems the vehicle has gotten too heavy for it's motor and thus acceleration is rather slow"
Anonymous, CO (2015 Subaru Outback)"I like that when I step on the gas pedal, it takes off. No hesitation. Just zoom. Great for merging into fast high traffic areas. Love the Eye Sight features and adaptable cruise control."
LINDA S., TX (2015 Subaru Outback)"The 3.6R has been an absolute pleasure to drive. It handles well and gives ample acceleration. It is comfortable to drive for both myself and my husband. I am SO happy we got this car!"
Anonymous, AZ (2015 Subaru Outback)"I have the 3.6R and it accelerates much more responsively and quietly than the plain Outback."
Anonymous, MN (2015 Subaru Outback)"This is the nicest car I have ever driven particularly with all the safety features"
M H., CA (2015 Subaru Outback)"Handles well, cornering is secure, and the helm answers my direction. Acceleration is good: 9.5 seconds to 60mph. But I have always owned faster cars. I would like to have a turbo on the engine, Something that would put out 275hp, and good gas mileage. The 6 cylinder gets less per gal."
EDWARD V., NJ (2015 Subaru Outback)"Doesn't accelerate as well as the V6 Toyota, but the eyesight features are great."
Anonymous, FL (2015 Subaru Outback)"Acceleration could be better."
Anonymous, NM (2015 Subaru Outback)"Is underpowered"
Anonymous, NY (2015 Subaru Outback)"Excellent handling in snow and ice!"
MARK G., VT (2015 Subaru Outback)"It has a shorter turning radius than other cars we have owned. It is easier to turn around in a parking lot."
Anonymous, MI (2015 Subaru Outback)"Love the Eyesight adoptive cruise control!"
BRADLEY L., KS (2015 Subaru Outback)"Acceleration on a highway is somewhat slow"
Anonymous, NY (2015 Subaru Outback)"Very good acceleration for a 4 cylinder. Plus it feels solid at interstate speed 70+"
Anonymous, FL (2015 Subaru Outback)"The CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) is very smooth. AWD is very important to me."
JON F., IN (2015 Subaru Outback)"Acceleration is unpredictable and unnerving due to the Subaru's CVT. The transmission is jerky and unresponsive to pedal position around town and country roads. Highway operation is much smoother until you have to merge and may find you have to abort due to CVT slow to transfer power to the drive system."
ALDEN S., PA (2015 Subaru Outback)"I like it better than I would have thought coming from a Lexus. It's not as quiet, but it isnt loud and it handles well with appropriate tires for the season."
Scarlett M., NV (2015 Subaru Outback)"Transmission is much smoother than my previous Honda CRV. Excellent gas mileage and the "eyesight" system makes driving my long commute much easier."
Anonymous, PA (2015 Subaru Outback)"Very solid feel while driving while providing enough feedback via the steering wheel"
Raymond K., MI (2015 Subaru Outback)"Very comfortable and quiet and safe on the highway in the presence of all the big trucks. Enough acceleration to get through any situation, and it still gets good gas mileage on the highway at 32."
James D., TN (2015 Subaru Outback)"The wagon's handling is fine, but its acceleration is just average. I opted for the more fuel efficient four versus the six, and it shows."
Paul S., FL (2015 Subaru Outback)"Drives through most anything, snow, rain, hills and never an issue Comfortable and dependable"
Marc F., PA (2015 Subaru Outback)"Great car! My wife and I love this car. The all wheel drive, high road clearance, handling and all the safety features on the vehicle make it a keeper."
Ernest S., NC (2015 Subaru Outback)"Responsive steering. Acceleration is adequate for primary driver of car."
Eric S., DE (2015 Subaru Outback)"The car has good power, but the CVT is not so smooth accelerating from a full stop. Even after 2.5 years I still have trouble sometimes accelerating smoothly."
Anonymous, TN (2015 Subaru Outback)"There's an early lurch and aggressive acceleration after starting the car. Once the engine calms down it's better but after start it's too excited and makes it feel unrefined somehow."
Paul M., PA (2015 Subaru Outback)"Very smooth handling and acceleration."
Barry R., NC (2015 Subaru Outback)"Very nice handling vehicle."
Anonymous, CA (2015 Subaru Outback)"The was excessive play in the brake pedal. The was a hesitation in the transmission when shifting out of reverse and into drive and then accelerating."
Anonymous, NJ (2015 Subaru Outback)"Acceleration is barely adequate. If bought the car again I would look for the 6 cylinder."
Anonymous, NY (2015 Subaru Outback)"High efficient transmission."
Jerry W., MO (2015 Subaru Outback)"The 2.5 liter engine is adequate, though at times more power would be nice. Handling is dependable. They effect of "Eyesight" on driving takes some getting used to, but is a great safety feature."
Richard A., MO (2015 Subaru Outback)"I have the six cyl, so acceleration is good. Handling was just fair as it came from the factory, replacing the 16mm stock rear anti-sway bar with a subaru replacement 20mm makes it feel much more planted with just a slight decreast in ride comfort."
Quentin W., OH (2015 Subaru Outback)"Acceleration is very good. It's not a zephyr, but gets to freeway speed without a problem."
Anonymous, WI (2015 Subaru Outback)"It seems all Subarus exhibit the some clatter from the engine. Steering is precise, but road hazards like expansion joints transmit to cabin. Forward/revers traction in New England winter very good, sharp curves require caution."
Vincent K., CT (2015 Subaru Outback)"Eyesight and all the other safety features"
Anonymous, AR (2015 Subaru Outback)"I am happy with the CVT, I find it very responsive and accelerates just fine for me. It seems to be reliable, although it sometimes runs away when using engine compression going down a hill with a 1500 pound trailer."
E L., UT (2015 Subaru Outback)"Very responsive for a 4 cyl but extremely noisy engine"
James T., NJ (2015 Subaru Outback)"Acceleration is adequate, but I would like a little more pop for the times when it is needed. Handling is nimble and responsive, good road feel"
Vince V., CA (2015 Subaru Outback)"Accelerates well and corners confidently. CVT jerks when going up hill especially when cold."
Anonymous, BC (2015 Subaru Outback)"Inconsistent acceleration but impressive handling."
Anonymous, NC (2015 Subaru Outback)"All wheel drive makes this vehicle safe and secure giving me confidence traveling in difficult conditions"
Anonymous, AR (2015 Subaru Outback)"Great awd system like the downhill assist , handling is good, turns pretty flat. Acceleration could be better but is adequate. Fuel mileage is good for an awd vehicle pretty close to EPA ratings"
Anonymous, OR (2015 Subaru Outback)"The four cylinder engine is somewhat underpowered. Sluggish when need extra acceleration such as freeway on ramps"
Jack L., FL (2015 Subaru Outback)"The AWD makes it feel really planted to the road. It handles well."
J W., LA (2015 Subaru Outback)"OMG. If you can get the 3.6L engine, do it. You will not be disappointed. For a car like the Outback, the thing is a rocket."
Anonymous, ME (2015 Subaru Outback)"Ride is very predictable"
Anonymous, CT (2015 Subaru Outback)"Acceleration very good for a 2.5 litre engine. Light towing (under 1,500 lbs) is no problem. And don't believe the negatives you may read about the CVT. Transmission works very well and contributes to great efficiency from the all-wheel-drive system."
Jeff M., IL (2015 Subaru Outback)"the 2015 outback has a ride that is quiet and comfortable. The outback is great when driving on snowy roads."
Joel V., TX (2015 Subaru Outback)"Great for long distance"
Anonymous, PA (2015 Subaru Outback)"Smooth ride even on rough pavement. Acceleration is adequate."
Anonymous, UT (2015 Subaru Outback)"The ecceleration and handling is smooth."
Anonymous, SC (2015 Subaru Outback)"I love the cruise control because it maintains a safe distance from the car in front of me by slowing the car down or accelerating to the cruising speed automatically"
Harry M., IN (2015 Subaru Outback)"Wonderful drive and handling, could use a little more power."
Anonymous, PA (2015 Subaru Outback)"The acceleration is touchy in our Outback. The transmission shifts inappropriately. It doesn't seem to find the right gear sometimes. It shifts too early or downshifts too late."
Sue C., WI (2015 Subaru Outback)"3.6 liter engine is very touchy when accelerating from a stop. a little too much low end torque when not fully loaded with people"
Anonymous, PA (2015 Subaru Outback)"I never wanted anything but a manual transmission. I had no choice with the 2015 outback and I have really come to appreciate the CVT. On the negative side, the towing capacity (2700 lbs) is disappointingly puny."
Rots A., MA (2015 Subaru Outback)"Handling is fine. Not a fan of CVT driving experience."
Anonymous, OH (2015 Subaru Outback)"4 cylinder acceleration is hesitant. Takes off quickly put slows down as you continually accelerate. Takes a while to pass a car. The eyesight is a wonderful device. It would be nice if the blind spot would make a noise instead of a barely visible flashing icon on side mirrors"
Anonymous, NC (2015 Subaru Outback)"1st gear acceleration is awful."
Anonymous, NM (2015 Subaru Outback)"Ride is smooth. I feel very secure driving in bad weather (rain, snow.) Acceleration is adequate, and more power would seem like a waste of fuel."

Eric M., OR (2015 Subaru Outback)"Good acceleration considering it has the smaller engine, handling almost sports car-like - a fun car to drive."
Anonymous, FL (2015 Subaru Outback)"The overall handling is good, except the car feels a lot lighter on the road than the 2014 Volvo XC70. The nanny feautures work fairly well. The predictive braking 'forgets' to release when the danger has passed."
Peregrine S., CA (2015 Subaru Outback)"We have the small boxer engine which accelerates well. I'm particularly surprised and pleased at the MPG we get. (28-29 highway 24-26 city)"
Ben H., LA (2015 Subaru Outback)"1. Both outside temp and digital clock are tiny, difficult to read, especially when wearing sunglasses. Terrible design mistake. Causes me to take my eyes off of road too long trying to read. Big deal for me. 2. There is a momentary hesitation when accelerating from a stop. Irritating."

Anonymous, NJ (2015 Subaru Outback)"Even though it is only a four cylinder vehicle, it performed adequately in the west Texas hills where the speed limit is 80 mph, and fully loaded with three weeks worth of luggage. There are a few occasions where entering an on ramp in high volume traffic can be a challenge, but knowing the limits of the vehicle and driving accordingly, make that acceptable in exchange for the excellent fuel economy."

Lewis P., ME (2015 Subaru Outback)"After using a rental 2018 Toyota Rav4 on vacation, I can say that the Subaru Eyesight system and the adaptive cruise control is even more fantastic than I thought previously. The Subaru allows me to set the interval from the car ahead and easily adjust the set speed in 5 mph increments. Plus, when traffic slows, the Subaru begins slowing down early enough that you are confident that the system is responding to the situation. A very real advantage, too, is that if traffic comes to a stop, the Subaru cruise control will bring the car to a complete stop. The Toyota system did not do this. Also, the Subaru lane departure warning works well. The Toyota system sometimes was unable to detect the lane markers. I just feel safer with the Subaru system."
Walter S., IL (2015 Subaru Outback)"After 3 years of being second driver, I still don't have a good feel for acceleration. With handling, the steering does not feel precise at highway speeds"

Nancy H., MI (2015 Subaru Outback)"I love the eye system to control cruise control. The braking automatic system is great too."
Anonymous, WV (2015 Subaru Outback)"Great acceleration, great brakes. Tends to drift slightly to the right on occasions. Find looking at the screen to change automatic controls distracting. probably contributes to drifting. I would much prefer the more manual controls like my old 2007 Outback had. I would have my 2007 back if I could. Too many electronic gadgets on the 2015. These tend to draw attention to the screen rather than the road."

Joanna B., CA (2015 Subaru Outback)"The Outback handles well generally. Acceleration from a complete stop is poor, especially when the car hasn't completely warmed up in the morning. Very frightening to pull out and merge with traffic."
Anonymous, OR (2015 Subaru Outback)"In a field of 4-cylinder powered SUV's, the H6 6-cylinder Outback 3.6R stands out with good acceleration and confident handling in the hills and flat highways. I feel very secure knowing I can get on freeways and pass with ease. So many other vehicles I tried didn't give me the same level of confidence."
Jeff A., CA (2015 Subaru Outback)"Acceleration from a stop is not very exhilarating for the claimed horsepower. It would have been nice if the car was a bit snappier. If you really put your foot in it, the car will grudgingly move faster from a stop, but it really wants to hold you back."
Anonymous, CA (2015 Subaru Outback)"In my 3.6R Flat 6, I can blow smoke into any vehicle at the start line with time to spare; the jet off acceleration is fun and sure footed 'cos All wheel drive; the CVT is quiet and steering's responsive and the wheels hug the road even at the bend. The top speed is 256kmph but even at mid way, the Outback is fast enough for most driving conditions which means if one befriends the Outback and drives it with care, it can go a looong way. A buddy of mine who owns an Audi dealership is impressed with my Outback each time I give him a lift. that is twice in a week! Bravo"
David L., BC (2015 Subaru Outback)"Ample power. Handles very competently. A pleasure to drive."
Anonymous, CO (2015 Subaru Outback)"I have been very pleased with how the outback handles and the acceleration and stopping. Getting used to this particular engine took a while, but once I had more confidence in it I was more willing to accelerate as I thought I should be able to. Handling with a trailer has been very good with this vehicle, and it has enough towing capacity to be useful."
Scott H., PA (2015 Subaru Outback)"Continuously variable transmission has a very low starting gear for excellent acceleration, then just keeps going faster until I reach the desired speed. Speed limits in Eastern USA are too low to know its full potential. Good emergency handling, such as doing things in the road. AWD avoids spinning tires when starting on wet or snowy pavement."
Robert H., CT (2015 Subaru Outback)"Enjoy driving Subaru. The seats and ride are not good."

Anonymous, CA (2015 Subaru Outback)"The eye-sight system is the best I've tried. Like any new car you have to learn its language (beeps, braking, etc...), until then it, I've heard others find it frustrating. I do feel like I'm a more attentive driver because of it. The acceleration seems forced in the 2.6. Most of my driving is in-town/city driving, so it is not necessarily an issue that I notice daily. It handles well."
Anonymous, AL (2015 Subaru Outback)"Acceleration is ok but not impressive. I often use mid grade gas to get more power"
Andrew S., NJ (2015 Subaru Outback)"Acceleration is choppy before it kicks in. I was unhappy that the axle went at 50-60k miles...never had that happen before. I don’t go off road and don’t live in a country setting so it was really disturbing that the dealer thought this was normal wear and tear. Have had constant brake and rotors problems and, again, the dealer said it was the AWD with normal wear and tear. The phone pairing comes and goes...sometimes it’s good and sometimes not."

Acceleration, especially when merging on to the highway, is not optimal. I own a 2.5 L Limited., and there a noticeable whine in the CVT as it tries to catch up.
