What Owners Say
"this is more of a town car but accel'n from stop sighn and onto interstate is plenty adequate. Maneuverability in town is outstanding, even fu;n"
A A., NC (2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek)"Very smooth. Does not seem overly "truck-like." Nice package all-around for a small SUV."
Anonymous, KY (2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek)"terrible acceleration. would not buy again because of this"
Anonymous, CT (2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek)"I enjoy the quick response and have not noticed any slowness of acceleration. (But, after all...I am a little old retired teacher) Parallel parking in this vehicle was the most enjoyable experience I have ever had."
Anonymous, VT (2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek)"It's kind of pokey. Getting on highways is a little slow task"
Richard N., CT (2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek)"The acceleration on this vehicle is attrocious. I live in the mountains and that is a constant issue. I like to say my car is gutless."
Anonymous, CO (2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek)"Very peppy and responsive handling. Easy to maneuver"
Anne B., PA (2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek)"quick response exc turning circle easy to drive"
Anonymous, WA (2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek)"Excellent acceleration with the Hybrid. Better acceleration than the non-hybrid models I have driven. great handling"
D R., UT (2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek)"My Crosstrek is very easy to parallel park and maneuver in town with a great turning radius. I have had several times on the highway where the braking probably saved my life and I feel secure and confident in general with how the car handles in all kinds of traffic. It got me through some deeply flooded streets last summer, great in blizzards/ice last winter, and is a champ on dirt roads. Good sight lines too, the back camera works well."
Sara H., MA (2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek)"Despite the higher stance the car does not role on turns. Peppy engine, CVT works well."
Anonymous, NY (2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek)"It has poor acceleration, but very good handling and is amazing in the snow."
Todd J., WA (2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek)"It is amazingly shift for such a small engine and corners extremely well too."
Anonymous, NV (2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek)"Terrible acceleration. Engine sounds like it's whining even when RPM's are low."
Anonymous, CT (2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek)"A little too much body roll for my taste, but installed Subaru 19mm rear sway bars and this improved handling on curves. This is the stock size for non-U.S. CrossTreks. Ride comfort not effected. The 2.0 liter engine does not deliver head-snapping acceleration, but is adequate. The faux steps in the CVT are absolutely stupid. They reduce acceleration and mileage -- just because people expect to feel and hear gear steps. My first CVT experience was with a 500cc scooter (capable up to 90+ mph) that had linear, load responsive ratio change. That is the way a CVT should work. I understand that Subaru is making the newer transmissions even more notchy."
Larry C., NE (2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek)"feels sluggish when making sudden acceleration, such as left turns"
Randall E., AZ (2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek)"Great handling"
RICK L., CA (2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek)"This is a very capable automobile in any/all weather conditions. It is a joy to drive."
Anonymous, RI (2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek)"It is well balanced and has had some long drives, it is comfortable and cruises at 70+ all day."
FREDICK H., OR (2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek)"This care won't burn rubber but it flies past them in the snow. It is very sure footed and I know my wife will will make it home in the worst snows."
Anonymous, CO (2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek)"Needs to be turbo charged."
Anonymous, IL (2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek)"Acceleration is a bit weak, even with my manual transmission. The handling however is wonderful."
Anonymous, OR (2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek)"Eyesight system is helpful, improves the driving experience and adds a sense of safety. Seems to be reliable, no disappointments"
LOUIS Z., WA (2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek)"Poor acceleration"
Anonymous, OR (2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek)"Not very peppy. Handling very good. Takes a long time to get up to speed when merging or cornering into traffic."
Anonymous, SK (2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek)"Glad I read consumer reports before I bought this car. The manual makes the slow acceleration tolerable. Noise in the vehicle is as stated in your report and is tolerable."
Anonymous, OR (2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek)"The CVT saves gas, but means a slower acceleration time. I'll take the gas savings."
Anonymous, CA (2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek)"I'd like to have better acceleration, possibly a larger engine, and definitely a 6th gear-it's a manual transmission."
KELLY A., CA (2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek)"Handles very well. Always feels like I have control, on curves, and in snow and rain."
EDWARD W., MI (2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek)"Acceleration is poor. Feels like the engine is too small for the car; even with a standard transmission."
Anonymous, CT (2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek)"The car is perfect for city driving. Maneuverable, turns very tight circles. Good vision."
ALLAN A., NC (2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek)"Acceleration is lacking power. Subaru needs to use the 2.5 liter instead of the 2.0 liter engine"
Anonymous, NY (2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek)"There is a small amount of travel on my accelerator before the car moves."
Anonymous, NY (2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek)"It was hesitant to buy because it was supposedly under powered. I have had it in all kinds of driving conditions and find it to be wonderful. Acceleration is wonderful for around town as is handling. Great road car too."
Anonymous, KY (2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek)"Acceleration is sluggish compared to my previous Forester. Seems as if the clutch doesn't engage as fast."
ELISE F., OH (2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek)"The handling on this car is like an expensive sport car. It has a wide stance and really hugs the road. You can really enjoy driving it."
B C., OH (2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek)"The Crosstrek all wheel drive handles great in all weather conditions. It has plenty of speed and pick up for a vehicle that is designed for safety and comfort. If you wish to go from 0-60 in 5 seconds, then buy a sports car. If you want an all around excellent vehicle that delivers in all road and off road conditions, then the Crosstrek is your car."
MICHAEL M., PA (2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek)
"The handling is tight and the ride is solid. Acceleration could be a little better but the hybrid is much better than the ICE models we tested."
Gary G., DE (2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek)
