The first 2 times it was brought to the dealer and they did a software reset which temporarily fixed the issue. The third time the head unit was replaced and it has completely solved the issue."

Deleting existing phones and factory restoring the bluetooth settings didn't help. The Subaru dealership indicated that it would be fairly costly to fix/replace. Eventually, weeks later, it started working again"
