The Camry is a capable, modest, comfortable riding sedan. The five-speed automatic transmission is smooth. The sizable interior is quiet and is outfitted with quality, well-fitting materials. Handling is responsive, but tire grip is limited. This version of the Camry received a Poor in the IIHS side-crash test when evaluated without the optional side- or head-protection airbags.

"The items listed are really over a 2 year period and are all things that needed to be addressed at some point but came to the fore during this time period. My garage 'Dynamic Auto' in Winnipeg does work when it becomes necessary and makes sure my car is always safe. Few people have a garage where they have been a valued customer for over 40 years and have always been looked after in a professional manner."

"chalky modeled diseased appearance"

Maurice M., CA (2006 Toyota Camry SE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"The paint started chalking over 10 years ago. A Toyota dealership explained to me that there was a change made in the way that that color paint was applied during production of the car. After the primer coat was applied, the body color (white) was combined with the clear coat to save a step in painting the car. Big mistake. Of course the deterioration didn't show up until after the warranty period was up so Toyota said Sorry, we can't help you. Repair estimate to repaint - over $2,500.00 !! So I've lived with a car that has run incredibly well for 13 years (only had to replace the alternator & rear struts [expected} ) but doesn't look too nice. That sucks. I have seen other similar year Camrys like mine with the same dull paint. All were white. Of course I'm disappointed because this is my fourth Toyota over the last 40+ years and they've all been excellent vehicles, but I'm half-serious when I say this but my next Toyota might be a Honda."
