Anonymous, TX (2011 Toyota Camry LE 3.5-L V6)

"It might be the stiff suspension but going over any bumps causes loud, plastic flexing sounds in the door panels, back seat squeaks, etc. Their is so much cheap, plastic in this interior, and it all seems to make noise now going over any rough road"

Kevin M., OH (2011 Toyota Camry XLE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"Once my drive shaft was repaired I experienced a rattling coming from underneath my car. When I took it back to Toyota they told me it was the moonroof. They also told me it would be expensive to repair. I informed them that every time I drove over rough pavement that you could clearly hear a noise come from underneath the car. they insisted it was from the moonroof. To date the problem has not been fixed."

Marcia B., NY (2011 Toyota Camry XLE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"This problem originated with the sun roof. Apparently the roof was not reinforced when the opening was created for the sun roof. Over time, this caused audible squeaks as the car flexes that can be heard even when the car radio playing.."

M S., VA (2011 Toyota Camry XLE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"power sunroof developed loud knocking noise when driving over sharp bumps. Told by Toyota dealer i can still use sunroof, but to stop the rattle would cost nearly $800.00"

Gerald F., WI (2011 Toyota Camry XLE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)
Wind noise

"Nose levels are dangerously high on typical roads. Toyota refused too address problem"

G H., TX (2011 Toyota Camry SE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"After about 2 years the noise from the wind has been getting louder. When I took it in, I was told everything is ok. Part od my under carriage fell off, loud rattle sound inside of car, the horn that shuts off the fan system, and the front visors that fell off, the list goes on, but I'm always told nothing can be done! I would NEVER recommend Toyota again!!!"

"Road noise makes it difficult to hear both radio (turn it loud to overcome) & back-seat passengers. This is true on streets and especially on highways. If we ever have to replace this 2011 SE Camry, we will look for a much quieter car even a luxury"

Anonymous, GA (2011 Toyota Camry LE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

Brakes

Antilock system (ABS), parking brake, master cylinder, calipers, rotors, pulsation or vibration, squeaking, brake failure or wear.

What Owners Say

Antilock system (ABS)

"Loud front end noises and sticking brakes"

Anonymous, OH (2011 Toyota Camry LE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"The system when out. Toyota service was able to reset the system. I was told that resetting the system might not work in the future. The cost to replace it would be approximately $2000"

Anonymous, IN (2011 Toyota Camry Hybrid 2.4-L 4 Cyl hybrid)
Calipers

"The rear brake calipers seized and caused the pads and rotors to wear. There was a grating sound when the breaks were applied"

C S., MB (2011 Toyota Camry SE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"Dirt in left rear caliper pin caused break to not release when brake pedal released, and prematurely wore out the brake pads"

Jeffrey C., MD (2011 Toyota Camry Base 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"Curiously, the early signs were a clunking sound when going over bumps. Later, scraping sound made us aware that there was an issue with the brakes"

Anonymous, OH (2011 Toyota Camry LE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"rear rotors are rusty, so I think the brakes are not working the way it should. I replaced the rear hydraulic hoses, braking is better, it seems the rear brakes are not working very hard"

Ping J., MA (2011 Toyota Camry LE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"Needed replacement as part of the previous problem. the right rear wheel"

"Needed to replace the caliper in one wheel"

Anonymous, MN (2011 Toyota Camry LE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"Had brakes serviced at Toyota dlr which inc clning and lubing calipers. Less than 1000 k's later heard noise from rear wheel when going over bumps. Diagnosed as left rear caliper bolts loose. They said retightened bolts. I thnk at least one was gone"

Anonymous, AB (2011 Toyota Camry XLE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"at about 55000 miles - seems very early to have this issue"

Anonymous, OR (2011 Toyota Camry)

"Caliper was squeaking and it was replaced by Toyota Dealer"

Martin G., PA (2011 Toyota Camry SE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"The rear brakes were making a scraping sound when applied. They were "seizing". The caliper, disc brake rotors and pads were replaced and "bled""

Anonymous, NH (2011 Toyota Camry LE)

"The problem was caused NOT by the car, but by faulty service by my service garage, after I'd had the car checked because we were going on a trip. The garage did something wrong when they checked the brakes, which caused some noise and possible damage. They fixed later, but I also had to pay for their mistake !"

Joseph S., MD (2011 Toyota Camry LE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)
Normal routine brake wear

"Normal break wear, dealer said noise was normal we could drive another 5000, only went another 2000 and took it in the noise was so terrible and the brake job was much more due to the amount of damage. Dealership is lazy or they are crooks??"

Anonymous, OH (2011 Toyota Camry LE 3.5-L V6)

"Brakes had worn out due to normal wear"

Anonymous, IL (2011 Toyota Camry LE 3.5-L V6)

"There was a funny noise, so I brought the car in for checking. I was told it was from brake wear and had it fixed"

Anonymous, FL (2011 Toyota Camry XLE 3.5-L V6)

"When non-Toyota brand brakes are used with Toyota rotors, the brakes make noise. Toyota brand brakes appear to wear more quickly than premium brand brakes which are lower priced than Toyota brand. Appears to be unfair practice for routine needs"

Anonymous, NY (2011 Toyota Camry LE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"Was told I needed brakes in rear"

Joseph D., NY (2011 Toyota Camry XLE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"The rear brake pads wore out after 126000 miles. Not a surprise."

Edward S., WI (2011 Toyota Camry LE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"I am a constant driver. I did sales of auto parts, and also delivery's with tis car.. I don't have any complaints at all. I do recommend this mfg. They use the best quality parts in there manufacturing, not cheap parts like cheaper vehicles.. only top quality in my option"

M G., NJ (2011 Toyota Camry LE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"Just time for a brake pad update. That is it. Nothing on Toyota's part. It is on me to follow maintenance schedule."

Anonymous, MD (2011 Toyota Camry XLE 3.5-L V6)

"Pads"

Ivan B., ID (2011 Toyota Camry LE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"Wear is expected, but stopping is not smooth, ie, some surging at low speeds."

Anonymous, ON (2011 Toyota Camry SE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"Original brakes 76000 miles"

Anonymous, OH (2011 Toyota Camry SE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"At over 100,000 miles on the original brakes, it was time for new ones. That is exceptional mileage to me, since my last car (Honda Accord) needed new brakes at 30,000 miles. The replacement brakes on the Honda lasted past 160,000 miles, so the OEM brakes on Hondas are a much poorer quality than those installed by Toyota."

Anonymous, TX (2011 Toyota Camry XLE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)
Premature brake wear

"the caliper failure caused the rear pads to wear out"

C S., MB (2011 Toyota Camry SE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"Rear breaks and rotors have been worked on twice since I bought the car. The right rear caliper and both brake pads were replaced under warranty by the dealer at around 40k and I replaced both rotors and rear brake pads at 78k. The dealer had checked the car during the 75k check up and said the brakes were fine. Around 78k I noticed a noise from the rear brakes and found the pads worn down to metal on rotor. When I told the dealer at the 80k check up I was told that model is notorious for rear"

Anonymous, PA (2011 Toyota Camry LE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"More than I thought but it, it is in daily rush hour stop and go traffic"

Anonymous, RI (2011 Toyota Camry XLE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"Rear brakes wear unevenly and had to be replaced"

Anonymous, MO (2011 Toyota Camry LE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

D B., NY (2011 Toyota Camry XLE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"Rear brake had one side hang up and drag causing it to fail. This required the replacement of both pads and rotors on both sides"

Carol B., MI (2011 Toyota Camry LE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"Rear brake pads stuck and needed to be replaced with rotor on the driver side rear wheel. Both rear brakes were replaced, but no warranty was given"

Anonymous, PA (2011 Toyota Camry Base 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"My rear brakes were very badly worn less than 4000km after a vehicle service"

James B., AB (2011 Toyota Camry Hybrid 2.4-L 4 Cyl hybrid)

"Car was driven in snow and ice in the north eastern part of the US"

Anonymous, TX (2011 Toyota Camry XLE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)
Pulsation or vibration

"Seems to be a re-curing issue"

Marcia D., CA (2011 Toyota Camry LE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"Firestone could not determine what was causing the vibration on routine maintenance visitation. Brought car in for looking more at the braking. Another tech was able to determine uneven brake wear as well as tires. Two were new but they wanted to sell 4 in total. Only front had more wear."

Fred J., CO (2011 Toyota Camry LE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"When traveling at 75MPH and suddenly apply the brakes there was serous vibration"

Anonymous, AZ (2011 Toyota Camry LE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

J P., ON (2011 Toyota Camry XLE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)
Rotors

"Both rear rotors had to be replaced"

Anonymous, GA (2011 Toyota Camry LE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"Car was sold to us with a defective right rear rotor. We were charged $250 to replace at first maintenance interval. After discussion with the dealer, they returned the cost as a good will gesture. The car was not a 'certified' used car!"

Anonymous, PA (2011 Toyota Camry XLE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"According to mechanic Toyota brand rotors cannot be "turned or shaved" to allow for continued use. Rotors must be purchased new each time I change brakes. Very wasteful and forced to make purchases not normally needed with other cars"

Anonymous, NY (2011 Toyota Camry LE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"rotors warped at 50k"

Brian L., TN (2011 Toyota Camry LE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"Cheap rotors from the factory, should not be warping so easily"

Anonymous, MO (2011 Toyota Camry SE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"Rotors have warped twice in the car's life or 60 k miles. Obviously the brakes are barely good enough for the vehicle. Hopefully this third time is the charm to getting things working properly"

Anonymous, CA (2011 Toyota Camry LE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"Some warping, causing pulsation and requiring replacement or lathing. Had lathing done."

J P., ON (2011 Toyota Camry XLE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"Hub bearing and rotor replacement. Vibration was significant when braking at high speeds."

Anonymous, TN (2011 Toyota Camry)

"On the test drive prior to purchase, the brakes shook on application. I told the dealer. It turns out he cut the existing rotors instead of replacing them. This is hardly Toyota's fault."

David R., ON (2011 Toyota Camry LE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)
Squeaking

"squeaking brakes when first starting repaired twice still occurs"

Anonymous, VT (2011 Toyota Camry LE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"At times when I brake, the brakes will squeak. I took it back twice to the dealer and they said it could be the weather. Well, once was in the summer and the other time was in the Fall. Not thrilled with the dealership"

"The AC system is spitting out white chalky dust due to deterioration of internal parts"

Anonymous, PA (2011 Toyota Camry XLE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"The evaporator core started leaking after 8 years with very low mileage and the only way to repair it was to completely remove the dash at a cost of almost $2,000.00. Who knows if all the parts taken out when the dash was removed were put back correctly. This is one of many disappointments. Toyota Camry is not the great car people say it is. The other great disappointments have been driver seat comfort and quality of ride. This car is way overrated. In addition, if it is such a great car why does it do a poor job holding its value?"

Heater system

"There appeared to be no heat coming from the ducts on the dash during one short driving errand. Then the weather warmed up , and there was no need for heat. When I left CT to drive back to TN, my temperature gauge started jumping all over from C to H. The upshot was that my water pump had failed; I lost all the coolant, also. It was a $650.00 bill to put everything back in order and me on the road to home again"
