What Owners Say
"equal to or better to cars costing $10000 more"
Anonymous, NC (2016 Toyota Highlander)"Gas Mileage not good and seems rough riding at times"
SANDRA H., TX (2016 Toyota Highlander)"It actually drives well. The problem I have is with the front blind spots. The front window trim combined with the mirrors leaves a huge blind spot for me especially when I make a turn. If I'm on a curve I can't see a car. I also can't see the curb when turning. I'm only 5' and have the seat as high as it will go"
Anonymous, TX (2016 Toyota Highlander)"Has all of the warning instruments (bline spot, back up camera, etc.) and electronics are wonderful. Very comfortable on long drives.Economical to use."
DARRELL A., SC (2016 Toyota Highlander)"Everything except navigation is great"
JAMES W., FL (2016 Toyota Highlander)"I previously owned a Mazda CX9 (7 years). The new Highlander does not handle or brake nearly as well. The brakes on the Toyota are not progressive- stopping very poorly at highway speeds until the pedal is finally pushed very very hard to stop. The car leans a lot in the curves compared to the surefooted feeling of my much older Mazda. Starting pushbutton system is very difficult to use compared to my other cars, My other cars just start and stop when I push the button but the Highlander req"
Anonymous, SC (2016 Toyota Highlander)"Noisey and rough ride"
W B., FL (2016 Toyota Highlander)"Drives and handles like a luxury car yet it has the beef to tow with ease."
LEE F., PA (2016 Toyota Highlander)"Handling is a bit quick, but seems good overall. Engine performance is good, certainly adequate for a vehicle of this size."
DAVID M., TN (2016 Toyota Highlander)"Compared to previous Highlander (2009), it is much quicker, handles really well, and is much quieter"
LARRY H., IL (2016 Toyota Highlander)"Previous vehicle was an '04 Volvo XC90. The Highlander drives much more like a car (in a good way) are requires little or no re-acclimation between driving the Honda/Accord and the Highlander."
DOUGLASS D., VT (2016 Toyota Highlander)"For traveling going across country and going on mountain terrain great ride and handling."
Anonymous, WV (2016 Toyota Highlander)"Acceleration seems slow sometimes"
Anonymous, GA (2016 Toyota Highlander)"I like the way the car handles and the acceleration is great when needing to pass or get on the freeway. It never hesitates. It is a pleasure to drive even after a long trip of 200 or more miles, you are not tired. For a higher profile car, it holds the road good even in curves."
ROBERT G., CA (2016 Toyota Highlander)"Ride not as smooth as expected, and road noise louder than expected."
DENNIS Z., TX (2016 Toyota Highlander)"for a 6 cylinder with 271 hp a bit lame especially after previous car (volvo V60 with 4 cylinder twin turbo and 240 hp)"

JOHN W., NJ (2016 Toyota Highlander)"do not like front wheel drive. windshield washer speeds are inferior to other cars I've owned."
EDWARD W., FL (2016 Toyota Highlander)"The only problem I've had is the smoothness of the ride reduces the kinesthetic coordination of body with machine so much that suddenly going 90mph is a surprise. Cruise control a necessity."
HOWARD B., NC (2016 Toyota Highlander)"Best all around driving awd vehicle I have owned."
Anonymous, IL (2016 Toyota Highlander)"accelerates very well - handles pretty good"
MARK A., AE (2016 Toyota Highlander)"Love the vehicle. Everything looks good and functions well. Front wheel drive: Making turns while accelerating hard from a stopped position can get hairy. The vehicle lurches compared to rear wheeled drive."
THOMAS B., FL (2016 Toyota Highlander)"The ride is EXTREMELY smooth. Not only di we think that, but guests riding in our Highlander have also commented on how smooth it is. It is an absolute dream to drive this vehicle - handles responsively, accelerates quickly when needed, stops on a dime, seats are very comfortable, and driver assist controls are intuitive and react well to drivers touch and feel. Smooth ride!"

Anonymous, MN (2016 Toyota Highlander)"Acceleration is excellent. I haven't had a chance to test its handling but appears to be okay."
KEITH H., MN (2016 Toyota Highlander)"I have noticed a moderate effect on the vehicle handling in a cross wind situation. I believe it is attributed to the current tires Toyo. DONALD J., NY (2016 Toyota Highlander)"Perfect match of power and acceleration to the size and weight of the vehicle Handles like a bmw"
DALE B., TN (2016 Toyota Highlander)"The brakes are awful. The pedal feels like a sponge. I am looking into better high performance brake pads. What I have is not acceptable."
Anonymous, NJ (2016 Toyota Highlander)"We had high expectations with the Highlander and test drive vehicles in the same class. By far the Highlander have the most car like drive of the SUV's and didn't give off that boxy feeling. We decided to go with a 2016 rather then the 2017 because the transmission had upgrade on the 2017 had considerably more gears. We were concerned while pulling a trailer the transmission with more gears would be shifting too much. Not sure if that was a good idea because the 2016 we got shifts like crazy wit..."
Matthew J., MN (2016 Toyota Highlander)"Poor accelerstion"
Anonymous, LA (2016 Toyota Highlander)"A much larger and heavier vehicle than the Prius with very good acceleration and a firm stable ride. Less road noise was noted. Handling was less aggressive on mountain roads than the Prius but it stuck to the winding roads well."

Anonymous, CA (2016 Toyota Highlander)"A drivers car. All the safety devises work well and are not intrusive."
Herbert L., IL (2016 Toyota Highlander)"The acceleration is not what I expected from a V6 engine.
