What Owners Say
"The Highlander handles much better than I expected and the fuel mileage in highway driving is better than the government estimates for AWD."
F M., VA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"overall a great vehicle"
Anonymous, GA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Excellent over the road travel"
Ricky G., PA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Plenty of power, turns and handles very well for the size of the vehicle."
David S., KY (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Does not ride as expected. The automatic start/stop system is annoying and unnecessary. I do not want the engine to shut-off at every stop sign."
Anonymous, PA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Its a great SUV and I should have it till I die........"
Allen D., TX (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Seems to handle well but only have driven 300 miles so far."
Anonymous, CA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Auto transmission shift is harsh and abrupt. Updated software and shift response improved but still not smooth as it should be."
Anonymous, NC (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Slower than expected acceleration Less than crisp handling"
Robert B., CA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Although this is a V6, the acceleration can be a bit slow. For that reasion, I wish I had bought the hynrid version - acceleration is much better."
Anonymous, IA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"A nice smooth ride. Lane departure works weel but can be a bit annoying on some narrow roads, especially coing around curves."
Howard S., AZ (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Excellent feel on long trips. The lane departure and smart cruise control are a huge help for a safe drive."
S B., CA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Compared to my Optima, the Highlander really growls to get up to speed when pressed. It feels underpowered. This may be an unfair comment given my Optima is smaller and has turbo but I still feel that is really struggles when punched and is emits a loud engine rev to get up to speed.."
Anonymous, TX (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Quiet, stable handling, smooth ride, good acceleration."
Anonymous, PA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Very comfortable. Handling has improved over the 2013 and 2015. Braking and steering have improved over past models."
Anonymous, TN (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Very good proformice from engine"
Anonymous, TX (2017 Toyota Highlander)"I love this vehicle, but it's slow. I would prefer a selectable set of electronic control profiles that would allow me to choose between economy and sport. As is, the car is competent, handles and rides well, but it's not a stirring drive."
Scott D., MI (2017 Toyota Highlander)"great all around car"
Larry D., ON (2017 Toyota Highlander)"the vehicle is great although the transmission is rather clunky, and i find the 2012 Highlander LTD which i traded in had much more bottom end power and better acceleration , although the dealership tells me things should improve as the car adapts to my driving"
Anonymous, ON (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Handling is about as expected, but acceleration is not. Engine seems powerful, but transmission hesitates and holds high gears too long. There is a TSB out there, but have not had it applied yet."
Anonymous, NY (2017 Toyota Highlander)"smooth pleasurable ride"
Anonymous, FL (2017 Toyota Highlander)"It has a smooth, quiet, buttoned-down ride. Good on cornering for a crossover with a high center of gravity. My wife loves it."
William R., GA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"The Handling is smooth and consistent. It holds the road very well but the acceleration is not as responsive as it should be....there is a slight pause when accelerating that should be smoother..."
Ben-Anna L., AR (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Quick acceleration and very responsive handling."
Larry D., IL (2017 Toyota Highlander)"not 100% smooth w/acceleration - otherwise LOVE unit !"
Anonymous, ME (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Well I'm comparing my 2006, V8 4Runner to 2017 ,V6 hybrid Highlander. Mpg is greater in Highlander (27-28 mpg) vs 12-13mpg 4Runner. Ride is very smooth, acceleration is quicker in Highlander vs 4Runner. The technology in Highlander was a little overwhelming at first, but after several weeks have figured most of it out. I do love the Bluetooth connectivity in the Highlander, and the sound system. I get in Highlander it connects to my IPhone, I can play my music or receive or take calls without to..."
Shawn P., NE (2017 Toyota Highlander)"the four wheel drive system is better than the Jeep I previously had and always is maximizing the best traction."
Joe M., ID (2017 Toyota Highlander)"I am totally satisfied with my Toyota, inside and is great,"
Anonymous, AZ (2017 Toyota Highlander)"This vehicle has good acceleration. It handles well at all speeds and driving conditions."
Martin K., AZ (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Very quiet and smooth on the road with great acceleration (6 cylinder AWD). It also gets great gas mileage on the freeway, but bad in the city."
Anonymous, MI (2017 Toyota Highlander)"the transmission is not smooth and at times can be jerky. The engine shuts off if you stop unless you push a button every time which is annoying. The auto steering correct and the other safety features are fantastic."
Thomas R., KY (2017 Toyota Highlander)"slow acceleration, will probably trade in as it is slow for freeway merging"
Deborah F., CA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"excellent handling and acceleration"
Anonymous, CA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Precise handling, very good acceleration and is a joy to drive."
Herbert L., IL (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Live in a hilly urban area with speed limits 30/35 mph. Seems as there is sloppy shifting, Understand not a sports car; however, accelerating to merge with high speed traffic should be better."
Anonymous, PA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Like the engine stop feature for use at long stoplights."
Anonymous, VA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Great vehicle"
Robert M., IL (2017 Toyota Highlander)"It has great acceleration for getting out on the highway. It is very responsive when driving. It handles better than most vehicles we test drive before we bought it. We test drove numerous vehicles and did research and compared what each had to offer and the Highlander was the best vehicle for us. It gets great fuel mileage and beat all the rest. The body is tight and sound and is fun to drive. They could improve by offering Google play and that is the only complaint"
Anonymous, OK (2017 Toyota Highlander)"It has good acceleration but the handling is a bit too soft. Would prefer a better feel of the road. Feels like it floats at times"
Anonymous, NJ (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Good acceleration. Love adaptive cruise control"
Linda U., NE (2017 Toyota Highlander)"The ride is smooth but it lacks acceleration."
Anonymous, AL (2017 Toyota Highlander)"smooth!"
Tom D., TN (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Going uphill, it shifts to the next gear too soon. You often have to press the gas pedal to get it to downshift to go uphill."
Anonymous, CT (2017 Toyota Highlander)"My Highlander drives like a dream. has good all-around vision, and plenty of power. Smooth transmission except when starting from a stop sign, there is a slight hesitation before power is felt if in a hurry."
James T., SC (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Great Driving car very comfortable."
Dean C., CA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Plenty of power and acceleration. I don't like the feature that slows you down when you are behind another vehicle."
Thomas S., IA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"I have already had 1 accident due to the new mirrors on the driver side. I cannot see when I turn, there will be a lawsuit against Toyota I’m sure for these mirrors"
Deborah S., CA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Excellent acceleration and handling. My only complaint is the cruse control. The front end collision safety features are annoying as the vehicle slows down far to soon even when adjusted to the minimum distance."
Anonymous, OH (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Superb handling overall. Very smooth ride. Excellent storage and passenger space. The precollision avoidance detection and braking works very well. The automatic slowing to maintain vehicle distance also works well."
Anonymous, MD (2017 Toyota Highlander)"THE 8 speed transmission does not automatically down shift going up hills."
Anonymous, NY (2017 Toyota Highlander)"safety features"
Anonymous, KS (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Highland was a powerful vehicle"
Stanley L., CA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"It has good highway mileage and handles well on the road."
Michael M., MA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Very responsive handling"
Anonymous, CA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"PerformanceUS OUTSTANDING, and we’re averaging almost 30 mpg. I’m not as frustrated in stop and go traffic any more when I look down and see I’m on electric power instead of wasting gas sitting still. :)"
David K., TX (2017 Toyota Highlander)"easy to drive and move, use back up camera all the time. large for indoor parking spaces"
Anonymous, ON (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Great pickup and sure footed."
R W., MA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Way to much road noise!the navagation in the car from Toyota is absolutely worthless!"
Norman B., NY (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Acceleration is good, however there is a lag in response when gas pedal is pushed."
Anonymous, OH (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Transmission doesn't seem to know what gear it wants to be in."
Gerry Z., NH (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Sluggish accerleration at low throttle settings. Low end torque is lacking."
Anonymous, TN (2017 Toyota Highlander)"I got the Highlander as a ski/snow car to that effect it is great and has never let me down."
Anonymous, CT (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Blind spots!"
Dennis P., TX (2017 Toyota Highlander)"The Highlander Hybrid has a lot of spunk. If you need to floor oit to get into traffic you can. It costs you in mpg but it really accel;erates with gusto if you need it."
Roxanne S., AK (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Acceleration is sluggish and noisy"
Keith M., WA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Acceleration and handling good"
Anonymous, MN (2017 Toyota Highlander)"I don't like the stop start feature and I"m not too happy with the 8 speed transmission"
Anonymous, AZ (2017 Toyota Highlander)"It is very quiet and responsive. I am very pleased"
Anonymous, IL (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Both the acceleration and handling of my 2017 Toyota Highlander are very good."
Michael M., VA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"The engine cutting off at stops is very annoying because it lowers air conditioner fan as well as other issues. To turn this feature off, you must do it each time you drive."
Anonymous, TN (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Great car to drive on the highway, lane warning OK, cruise control with auto braking great Location of cruise control on steering wheel hard to reach --- too low under the steering wheel"
Anonymous, NY (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Car is quicker than it feels. The 8 speed transmission seems to hunt for gear quite a bit, and then when it finds one it seems to choose one a little lower than it needed to."
Paul J., IN (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Good acceleration but does not handle as well as a sedan"
Anonymous, CA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Compared to the 2008 model, it is a dog. Underpowered with a smaller fuel tank. Though MPG is better, mileage between fuel stops is worse. Handling is fine."
Anonymous, NJ (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Its a dream machine for acceleration, especially for handling."
Anonymous, MN (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Car acceleration response. Outstanding over the road Cruise control system with adaptive cruise control. Great car space."
Ricky G., PA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"the V6 has power available at all speeds to allow you to maneuver as needed. Very good vision for front, side and rear. Very comfortable car to ride in, it handles well and smooths out the road well for an SUV."
Wallace D., MI (2017 Toyota Highlander)"The only negatives I have about the 2017 Highlander is that acceleration seems to be lacking compared to my 2015. It now has an 8 speed transmission which may be part of the issue. I also very much dislike the engine automatically shutting down when you apply the brake when stopped. I understand they are trying to get as much MPG as they can squeeze out but don't care for that feature and wonder what the long term effect on starter reliability it will have."
Jeffrey S., MO (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Very good control"
Allen W., TN (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Don't like the fact that the engine shuts off when stopped for any reason. Don't like the automatic light dimmer operation."
Anonymous, TX (2017 Toyota Highlander)"The Highlander has excellent acceleration. It handles very well, again very smooth. We've use the lane assist but it can be very annoying when on curves. We are within the lane lines but the sensor seems very sensitive. Braking is pretty smooth, too. For a large vehicle, it handles very nicely."
Linda C., MO (2017 Toyota Highlander)"I feel the city driving is not the best for my gas mileage."
Ronald C., CA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"numb steering, and sluggish uneven throttle response even after the transmission software updates."
A B., IN (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Too much power for a front wheel drive; it slips often."
Verale P., OH (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Great acceleration. Great handling in snowy conditions."
Anonymous, OH (2017 Toyota Highlander)"I like the dynamic radar cruise control.I use it as much as possible."
Anonymous, FL (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Great acceleration to merge into highway traffic. Car also handles very well."
Anonymous, PA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"It has good pick-up and acceleration for the size of the vehicle. it is responsive when required for accelerating into a freeway or when required for passing"
Anonymous, AB (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Handling and Interior quietness"
Anonymous, MT (2017 Toyota Highlander)"very quick"
Anonymous, AZ (2017 Toyota Highlander)"The car accelerates well given its weight and size. I feel like it has good acceleration even on the shorter highway entrance ramps we have locally. In some instances, there is an incline right at a short entrance and the Highlander handles them easily. Handling is excellent. It has a tighter turn radius than I expected for an SUV of its size, and it is fairly easy to park in most lots and garages."
Brenda B., CT (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Very comfortable ride, a bit slow in acceleration, drivers side mirror a problem"
Anonymous, AZ (2017 Toyota Highlander)"good acceleration for highway driving, like the blind spot monitor and the lane departure feature."
John G., OR (2017 Toyota Highlander)"It changes gears much more frequently than expected. E.g., doing 65mph going up a very slight hill it down shifts. Also, after punching it & letting off the gas, the engine stays revved when you would expect the rpms to drop. I took it to the Toyota dealer and they said "that is normal & that's what they all do"."
Terry H., VA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Handles like a whale, but pleasant enough (especially with 360 cameras)"
Anonymous, GA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"For a big car it is very responsive but still gets good gas mileage. Braking is also very good. Steering is responsive also."
Richard S., IN (2017 Toyota Highlander)"The car does everything as advertised!"
Victor G., OH (2017 Toyota Highlander)"There seems to be an exceptionally large change in gearing between 3rd and 4th. Transmission has a very irritating tendency to lag at low speed, and shifts continuously searching for the correct gear. The transmission has been checked 4 times, but the dealer always says that the computer reports that it is healthy. Also, the engine is generating more and more noise at idle as the miles accumulate, in spite of it being meticulously maintained. Scheduled oil changes have been done by Toyota, and I have added in additional oil changes, doing the work myself."
Anonymous, TN (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Excellent acceleration, constant four wheel drive is very sure footed, solid and quick handling with perfect steering and great abs braking and sway system. I am enjoying the tech package with radar controlled distance following vehicles, lane departure, blind spot warning and more!"
Ronald M., AB (2017 Toyota Highlander)"car provides a smooth quiet ride; not totally comfortable about the car remaining on when I think it is turned off but I am overcoming this problem."
Joseph C., FL (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Great power, braking and responsiveness."
Anonymous, NS (2017 Toyota Highlander)"There is a slight hesitation when accelerating from a stop or up to about 40 mph."
Wade L., TX (2017 Toyota Highlander)"auto start/stop affects smoothness of acceleration"
Anonymous, ON (2017 Toyota Highlander)"The only downside to the car is acceleration. To get it to pickup you really have to hit the accelerator and then it will go but only after downshifting and really revving up the engine."
Anonymous, MO (2017 Toyota Highlander)"It has more power than I expected for a hybrid (305 hp) it has great acceleration, it has a smooth and even ride, it handles fairly well on corners , but tires will screach if you hit acceleration to hard coming out of a corner. But for a hybrid I have been pleasantly surprised. I test drove Lexus350 and Highlander, only differences was price range."
Shawn P., NE (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Suspension absorbs bumps but still handles crisply"
Kenneth I., IN (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Handling is responsive and reasonably tight - very good for an SUV. Automatic steering assist is subtle but useful. Good acceleration at all normal speed ranges. Braking is responsive and adequate at all speeds."
Anonymous, TX (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Has plenty of power, but hesitates a bit when first accelerating and seems to require a really firm pressure on the accelerator in order to get a rapid start."
Jeremy B., OH (2017 Toyota Highlander)"I feel totally connected to the car and the road when accelerating and handling the Highlander. There is an immediate and smooth response to my actions."
Paulette S., TX (2017 Toyota Highlander)"very good as expected"
Anonymous, FL (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Has a 5000 lb toll rating, we pull a 4000 total lb trailer. We get 12-16 mpg. Handling is good enough. Has good acceleration even when pulling trailer."
Mel V., MI (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Excellent"
Franklin T., OH (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Engine performance exceptional which gives me great confidence behind the wheel."
Lawrence C., WA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Acceleration is good for such a large vehicle"
Anonymous, WA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"This Highlander has all of the electronic safety devises plus the new six gear transmission. These improvements save fuel without losing the quick acceleration that I had become accustomed to with my 2011 Highlander. The added features of lane departure warning and speed control distance braking make the vehicle much safer and handling easier. Toyota put many of the screen features between the tachometer and the speedometer which had made handling safer and easier because I do not have to look at the center of the dashboard to know what the speed limit is or if the navigation system wants me to turn."
G G., NC (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Off the line and passing acceleration is good and I particularly like the power mode. Handling is sound overall though some body lean in cornering occurs. Overall, it’s a more than competent handler and buttery smooth driver."
Mark C., PA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Sloppy handling and poor acceleration."
Anonymous, CA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"System that manages cruise is a little irritating as it measures distance between cars and slows or speeds up. Can be too safe."
Anonymous, TX (2017 Toyota Highlander)"The 8 speed transmission is prone to frequent shifts."
James S., PA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Strong acceleration, holds the road well."
Anonymous, MA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"I’m very satisfied. Ride is a little stiffer than my previous one but towing stability is improved."
John H., MN (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Enjoy the car like ride of this large SUV."
Edwin K., TX (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Accelerates and handles very well."
Anonymous, VA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"I can switch from standard driving to performance driving and it accelerates very good."
Andrew M., IL (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Smooth with adequate acceleration to avoid problems."
Clifford H., NV (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Good acceleration and handling. Comfortable seating. Great family SUV"
Kevin K., AL (2017 Toyota Highlander)"The vehicle handles well, however, there is a feeling of down shifting while stopped at red lights. It has something to do with slowing the motor down temporarily while stopped. It can be manually disengaged, it re-engages when the motor is turned off. Toyota service manager advises is cannot be permanently disengaged."
G H., TX (2017 Toyota Highlander)"For the size of the vehicle it accelerates and handles quite well, even with 6-8 people in the car. The mileage is decent and it uses regular gas, and my wife loves it."
D M., PA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"have 2 wheel drive and it slips coming up my very steep driveway. Also, have to constantly repeat voice commands"
Anonymous, TX (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Transmission always wants to be in highest gear."
Anonymous, NY (2017 Toyota Highlander)"this car does not accelerate well transmission set for economy has hesitation at low speed dealer says nothing can be done"
Anonymous, FL (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Acceleration is strong and smooth and handling at all speeds is smooth and predictable."
Anonymous, CA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Hesitation as it shifts. Sometimes jerks."
Anonymous, IL (2017 Toyota Highlander)"The acceleration is wonderful. When I need to pass, I can get the job done & be back in line in no time, no hesitation, & with the power I need."
Kay P., CA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Comfortable, stable ride"
Joel P., SC (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Excellent/strong acceleration. Handles well when being pushed."
Anonymous, TX (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Very powerful engine with incredible fuel economy. Better than my husbands 4 cylinder. Easy to backup with camera and nice new features line lane assist."
Anonymous, VA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"The Highlander drives like a large sedan and doesn't feel like an SUV or truck."
Anonymous, CA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"The acceleration is prompt, handling is smooth and responsive. Road noise is all but absent and when carrying a group of people, the comfort is unrivaled."
Mario A., WI (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Acceleration is quite good and has plenty of power for passing. Gas MPG is surprisingly good. Handles very well on the corners. Braking is excellent."
Anonymous, TX (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Built in safety sensors are really the best. I highly recommend the vehicle. And that was not an additional cost to me"
Anonymous, NY (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Transmission jerks when decelerating and then accelerating."
Erwin D., GA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Tip in acceleration is touchy. It seems to be all or nothing being difficult to modulate."
Anonymous, IA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Excellent acceleration, vehicle warning i.e. Blind spot notification a great feature"
Anonymous, MN (2017 Toyota Highlander)"The acceleration is very good, and handling is smooth at low speeds, but handling it not good on highway ramps and curves at almost any speed."
Anonymous, MD (2017 Toyota Highlander)"handles & accelerates as advertised"
Anonymous, PA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Very good gas mileage for a large three row SUV"
G L., MA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Accelerating or going up hills/mountains the transmission downshifts too much and is annoying. Seems like cannot find the right gear. With the horsepower the 8 speed transmission should be a smoother ride. Need to fix this situation!"
Anonymous, VA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Quite pleased with how responsive it handles in turns, etc. New tuning of the 3.5L V-6 with its 8 speed transmission makes it even more responsive than my 2006 Highlander"
Larry D., IL (2017 Toyota Highlander)"A Great Car in ALL areas !"
Stan Y., KY (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Acceleration is crisp, thanks for the electric motors. Handling is surprisingly good given its high center of gravity."
Anonymous, NH (2017 Toyota Highlander)"The new 8 speed transmission is not very smooth downshifting. It lags and then hits rather hard. It reminds me of the transmission in my old 2006 Toyota Sienna that had the same problem. Maybe Toyota should look to someone else to build their transmissions."
James K., PA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"It feels like the gears don’t shift smoothly and there’s some hesitation when you press the accelerator. My previous 2003 Highlander Ltd. shifted better than the new one."
Kim G., WV (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Seems a little sluggish for a V6 engine. Handling is great. Stop/start system seems a little rough. MPG should be better. Overall, very satisfied even with some drawbacks."
Anonymous, AZ (2017 Toyota Highlander)"good acceleration out of the v6. cornering is only adequate."
Anonymous, AZ (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Makes me feel safe when warning system warns me of danger."
Dennis D., GA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Handles well in all kinds of driving experiences and comfortable."

Carl B., ON (2017 Toyota Highlander)"I don't like that the engine shuts down while I'm stopped."
James M., TN (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Surprising acceleration, great ride, good handling... great visibility, especially augmented by Blind Spot and back up camera and logic. Modest wind noise compared to AudiQ7"
Don M., CA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Drives car like"
Anonymous, TX (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Smooth acceleration but I think there are too many gears."
Anonymous, VA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Acceleration is very good although the transmission at times hesitates. I feel very confident driving this car"
Jenneine S., AZ (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Local handling is good. Acceleration onto parkways is sometimes not reliable."
Daniel S., NY (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Good is seat comfort, styling, gas mileage. Bad is the start stop system. It is dangerous when making a left turn at a busy intersection."
Gregg B., AZ (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Vehicle is not as agile in town driving as I would like, but the transmission is 8-speed, so there is lots of shifting up and down. The biggest aggravation is the start-stop feature with the engine. It is borderline dangerous to have. In-town driving requires quick acceleration from a stop position, and the engine does not restart quickly enough to respond. It cannot be disengaged permanently, but it can be turned off every time the engine is started... a nuisance. Handling is very good, even with the electronic steering."
William M., TX (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Handling is good rivals my 2010 Highlander, Acceleration is less responsive than my 2010 Highlander and is not as smooth."
Robert K., NY (2017 Toyota Highlander)"no complaints"
Ron H., MO (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Acceleration is good but to accelerate quickly one has to really tromp down on the accelerator. Vehicle is programmed to shift to highest gear quickly to conserve fuel."
Anonymous, ID (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Excellent acceleration - firm and responsive handling."
Larry S., IN (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Car handles exceptionally well and the acceleration is very well"
John C., VA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"The Toyota safety pack is my reason for getting this car. It keeps my in lane and safe in cruise mode. It is comfortable. What more could one expect from a car?"
Anonymous, SC (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Comfortable"
David P., PA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"entering limited access highway - has all the power I need to do so safely and get to desired speed quickly"
Anonymous, NY (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Handling is excellent. Responsive and good recovery. On freeway adjacent van moved over toward my lane. Evasive turning toward the shoulder yielded squealing tires but no loss of control. Acceleration on this vehicle is slow! My 6 cylinder 2008 RAV 4 will push me back into my seat. The same 6 cylinder in my new 2017 Highlander makes you want to lean forward to help it move faster!"
J A., MI (2017 Toyota Highlander)"It is an overall great experience to drive. I enjoy it more than most autos I have ever owned. My wife agrees."
James C., ID (2017 Toyota Highlander)"This is a 7 passenger car and a tiny bit loose on corners. It does not give you the feel of a sporty SUV but that is not its purpose or intention. Great family car"
Richard D., ON (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Good acceleration and it sticks to road. Very good with emergency handling and can take corners like a sports car."
Roger W., TN (2017 Toyota Highlander)"The Highlander SE literally handles like a sport car, agile, quick and very positive... Yet, it rides like a luxury car - quiet, smooth and without swaying or bouncing."
William B., GA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Especially like the adaptive cruise control, the blind spot warnings and the back up view and warnings."

Drew C., CA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"The acceleration is quick and the handling is great."
William M., CA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Handling and ride is exceptional"

Anonymous, IL (2017 Toyota Highlander)"the driving experience is extremely pleasant"
Mark M., PA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Very repliable vehicule, but not very exciting to drive. No sporting behavior at all. 8 speed transmission is not working smoothly at low speed."
Anonymous, QC (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Eveyrthing is great"
Anonymous, NC (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Handles very well"
Anonymous, FL (2017 Toyota Highlander)"It seems to drive pretty good, but sometimes when accelerating it seems to hesitate. ( I am not a car person, so probably isn't the technical term)"
Kathy B., IN (2017 Toyota Highlander)"transmition doesn't shift smoothly."
Richard B., FL (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Don’t like how the gas saver start/stop feature is not as smooth as it could be. Too much hesitation when starting from stopped position. Happy we can turn off this feature."
Anonymous, FL (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Is larger than it looks and is not very sporty. The acceleration is fine however."
Anonymous, WI (2017 Toyota Highlander)"8-speed transmission shifting not very smooth during acceleration from stop. Higher speed shifting is very good."
Glenn C., NC (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Overall good - there is a slight hesitation at first acceleration. Not very punchy."

Anonymous, FL (2017 Toyota Highlander)"very good"
Dean D., AZ (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Some time the shifting of gears is not smooth as lower speeds."
Anonymous, AR (2017 Toyota Highlander)"It has decent acceleration but when you stomp on the accelerator the steering is very difficult to control especially if you’re turning into the flow of traffic"
Anonymous, FL (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Responds berry well"
Anonymous, MO (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Handling is predictable."
Anonymous, CA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Acceleration is excellent at both low and high speeds. Handling is great in all kinds of weather."
Anonymous, SC (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Just great to drive"
Anonymous, MN (2017 Toyota Highlander)"solid drive, handles well and accelerates well."
Anonymous, WA (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Its great"
William J., OH (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Cruise control and lane assist really helps interstate driving"
Anonymous, NY (2017 Toyota Highlander)"too many transmission shifts - why is an 8 speed transmission needed? acceleration from complete stop is absolutely terrible"
Anonymous, NE (2017 Toyota Highlander)"I do not like the fact that I cannot turn off the feature whcih turns the car off when idling at stop lights. It cuases the ac to shut down. I would like to turn this off permanently."
Anonymous, MD (2017 Toyota Highlander)"When stopped and engine is off then restarts the car actually moves forward—like being bumped."
Anonymous, MI (2017 Toyota Highlander)"Acceleration is slow"
Anonymous, MS (2017 Toyota Highlander)"steering is excellent and responsive. Corners very well. Overall handling is " almost " like a sports car."

"Very powerful, effortless handling. Hugs the road, little sway on curves. We love the electronic safety features (lane change warning with assisted steering, adaptive cruise control, blind spot warning), these were very important factor in purchasing this expensive vehicle."
