Was told it needed new software, which they attempted to install. Was told there was a faulty antenna & that the only fix was whole new audio system ($2000). Declined, but also came away w/ no more bluetooth connection. At some point will probably go elsewhere (not dealer) for assistance."

Deborah P., CA (2012 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"There seems to be a somewhat well-known problem with the bluetooth function in the car turning itself off (and so not being available for pairing). People do not yet seem to have found a solution for it. Typically, the bluetooth works for about 60 seconds when one enters the car with a phone that has already been paired with the bluetooth (when it was working), and then the car's bluetooth turns itself off. When one goes to turn it on again in the menu list, the check-box does not respond and do"
Anonymous, MA (2012 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"At times it would not allow Bluetooth. Another problem was the dash said the phone was disconnected, but conversation still continued through the car. Very strange behavior!"
Anonymous, HI (2012 Toyota Prius V 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"My phone, a Samsung Galaxy S9+ has been pairing for about 10 months with no problem. Then after pairing with my phone, it started to drop my call and say there was no bluetooth available. I've taken it twice to the dealership and they claim they can't find any problem and that their diagnostic software doesn't find anything wrong: no codes show a problem. All they can do is replace the whole system, a $1200 part plus labor costs that will be high and no guarantee that it will fix the problem! They asked me if I wanted to put $2000 into an older car that will continue to have more problems, or just get a new car!"
Anonymous, NY (2012 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"One of our phones stopped pairing. Internet search was no help. There was one person at the dealer who knew what to do. Has been several months and has not happened again"

Anonymous, AK (2012 Toyota Prius V Two 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"The Siriux XM portion of the radio quit working although the AM and FM sections worked fine. The problem was determined to be in the antenna. The Toyota Dealer wanted 5 hours of labor and a $375 antenna (part) for about $1,000 to make the repair. I believed that this was exhorbitant. I took the vehicle to an aftermarket stereo store. They installed an aftermarket Sirius XM antenna for a total cost of $145 for the repair. It has been working perfectly ever since. The Toyota dealer refunded"
Norman C., CO (2012 Toyota Prius V Five 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"The radio also stopped working properly"
Anonymous, MN (2012 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Antenna wire to satellite radio shorts out. Price to fix it was too expensive. The wire runs under the headliner from the front to the rear of the roof. The fix would require removal and reinstallation of all interior trim. It was much cheaper to install an aftermarket satellite radio."
Steven C., SC (2012 Toyota Prius V 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"It does not display station numbers/letters,or song info. switches in and out of HD sound. I was told it is a software problem that would cost about $400.00 to fix, so I haven't"

Thomas S., NM (2012 Toyota Prius V Five 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Previously, when I brought my car into the dealership after purchasing a new phone, they were no help in updating my car's software. I heard excuses that there are too many phones on the market for them to keep up with. I got another new phone and had the same problem. I went around borrowing phones from friends trying to find a new phone that would pair with the car. Finally I went to the Toyota website and contacted their service department there. A service technician explained how to update my software after sending me a link in an email. Since then, I update my phone myself from the Toyota Entune whenever I have a problem."
Anonymous, NY (2012 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"That is the problem I explained in the previous segment. However we also experienced battery issues w/ this vehicle, in which there were dead cells that would sometimes prevent car from starting. Battery was replaced @ my expense by dealer, but after that is when GPS & bluetooth issues arose."
Anonymous, (2012 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Our Prius was recalled as the car could shut down in cold weather during hard installation."
Ray L., WA (2012 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"The rear speakers on these Prius Vs barely put out any sound"
Anonymous, (2012 Toyota Prius V Unsure 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Even though the touch screen shows speaker volume is directed to the rear speakers, our grand kids were unable to hear anything unless wound was coming from the front speakers also. We took the car into the dealer, and they confirmed the Prius V is unable to isolate sound to the rear speakers only"
John F., NY (2012 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"The rear speakers barely put out any sound"

John F., NY (2012 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Voice control for GPS does not work. They could not fix it at dealer. They acted dumb and said they could not recreate it"
Anonymous, CA (2012 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Voice controls are worthless. They only work with specific commands not natural voice and they usually have to be done at least twice. It is not user friendly"
Philip L., CA (2012 Toyota Prius V Five 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"The dealer said to have fixed the electrical problem and yet it continues to reappear"
Anonymous, MD (2012 Toyota Prius V Five 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"My voice commands are not understood. Words are not understood, frequently"
Richard G., CA (2012 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Very poor voice recognition. I am a native English speaker but find that most commands are poorly recognized"
