What Owners Say
"The backup camera display does not give a realistic representation of the distance that objects are from the car. It looks like you have much more room than you actually do. I never rely on the camera when backing. The camera angle cannot be chang"
Anonymous, NC (2013 Toyota Prius V 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Backup activated a loud beeping which the dealer charged almost $100.00 to de-activate. The backup camera is practically useless without some sort of backup warning system"
Anonymous, VA (2013 Toyota Prius V 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"CD Player wouldn't eject CD's. the dealer replaced the unit at no charge,"
Anonymous, CA (2013 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"A CD got jammed in the player, requiring replacement of the entire unit"
Anonymous, PA (2013 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"i've had CDs get stuck and won't eject... then suddenly they eject... glitchy"
Cecilia D., MA (2013 Toyota Prius V 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Sometimes freezes up and have to reboot system, sometimes have to reboot car,"
Anonymous, SC (2013 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"The screen has stopped functioning. An internet search suggests this is common in this model year and can be repaired with a part costing around $100. There was a description of how to do it but one would need some familiarity with such systems."
Gregory M., SC (2013 Toyota Prius V Five 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"I have had this problem when listening to the radio, listening to books through the ipod add, using the navigation system. Sometimes the screen is redisplayed after 'rebooting', but sometimes it has not come back until car was shut off and restarted"
Anonymous, NC (2013 Toyota Prius V 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Screen does not remember the settings. Single selector makes it extremely difficult to drive and control the temperature or the music choices"
Anonymous, TX (2013 Toyota Prius V Two 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Podcasts stop working and in some cases it is necessary to pull over, cut off the car and power it back on to resolve. Also, sometimes plays podcasts that have been marked as played"
Anonymous, SC (2013 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Sometimes the paired device interface freezes up or just stops working. I don't know how to reset it - it just starts working again after a while"
Cecilia D., MA (2013 Toyota Prius V 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Bad interface, frequently freezes up, sometimes doesn't work at all, for podcasts mixes up the episodes and can't remember the ones I've already listened to."
Anonymous, SC (2013 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"The unit began blacking out and contrast on the screen change drastically. Springwood stop working completely turn off on its own. Whole unit was replaced at the dealership at our cost."
Anonymous, FL (2013 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"The maps for the navigation system are auto-updated by Toyota via a proprietary wireless system that is also used for tracking the vehicle (used for traffic stats, etc). Unfortunately, Toyota is not keeping the maps accurate at all. The maps continue to get less and less useful as time goes on (roads change). The navigation system can only use a mailing address for navigation and bookmarking. This makes it literally impossible to bookmark a location that isn't also a mailing address. It als"
Anonymous, CA (2013 Toyota Prius V Five 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"I would never purchase a Toyota with in-dash navigation again. It is grossly over complicated to set up and use. The interface is marginally better than my ten year old Garmin GPS and much less convenient to us. The cost of upgrading the maps is, simply put, an insult"
William H., CO (2013 Toyota Prius V Five 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Very expensive system with terrible features and it costs a fortune ($200) to update the maps. There is no pinch to zoom, when it displays route options it is difficult to see how they differ, it chooses poor routes. It is less effective than Wayz (which is free on a phone) and it costs more to update the maps than a brand new Garmin would cost with lifetime map updates. A total ripoff"
Michael R., VA (2013 Toyota Prius V Five 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Failure"
Anonymous, NY (2013 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"The GPS system is terrible. It often cannot find addresses that other systems find without problems, it's voice recognition software is very unreliable and, because of these and other problems, we rarely use it any more"
Anonymous, NJ (2013 Toyota Prius V 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Urban area show up as purple. And this makes it difficult to see streets and street names. At night the screen turns a deep purple. And impossible to read anything"
Anonymous, MI (2013 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"user UN friendly, difficult to see both day and night, does not dim automatically at night, difficult to input some addresses"
Jan A., GA (2013 Toyota Prius V Five 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Difficult to work with, not at all intuitive, has gotten my wife lost more than once, no direction of travel information. One time totally dumped all information, had to be reprogrammed at dealer. We travel with a Garmin and don't trust in-dash nav"
Roger N., MN (2013 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"GPS pointed to the wrong location"
Anonymous, CA (2013 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Seems To no longer be accurate. Has left me stranded claiming I was at my destination when I was in the middle of nowhere"
Anonymous, TX (2013 Toyota Prius V 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Difficult to find addresses at times. Finds wrong address on occasion"
Anonymous, CT (2013 Toyota Prius V 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"the USB port wasn't installed correctly which was replaced by the dealer at no charge. Navigation system has let me down by not sending me to the correct location so now I rely on the Bluetooth sync with my iPhone and Google maps"
Anonymous, CA (2013 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"GPS stopped working, but Toyota repaired the problem at their expense. Was most pleased with the outcome."
Anonymous, NY (2013 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"The in-dash navigation system has been a confusing, overly complicated mess since I bought the car. Virtually unusable due to complexity and total lack of intuitive features. Map upgrades cost several hundred dollars. I’ve been using Google Maps on my iPhone instead for several years."
William H., CO (2013 Toyota Prius V Five 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"The intune system is unintuitive and has never worked with my phone. You must put in the zip code before entering an address. Updates are so late, our neighborhood is 10 years old, but we are still shown as driving in the grass when we are near the house,"
Anonymous, TX (2013 Toyota Prius V 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Phone pairing is limited to 1000 contacts which it arbitrary chooses. You cannot manually add, delete, or edit numbers or contact info"
Michael R., VA (2013 Toyota Prius V Five 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"The phone will only take the first 1000 names from the phone address book, if you have more than 1000 you are screwed. You can't add or delete or change individual entry. It makes the phone dialing useless"
Michael R., OR (2013 Toyota Prius V Five 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"The phone pairing is very unreliable and it does not update. For example, when I make changes in my contacts on my phone, those changes are not recognized by the phone. Also, periodically, I have to pair the phone again for no apparent reason"
Anonymous, NJ (2013 Toyota Prius V 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"System quit working completely and had to be reprogrammed at the dealer. Poor outgoing sound quality. Seldom use it"
Roger N., MN (2013 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Sometimes the Bluetooth does not pair with my phone"
Anonymous, CT (2013 Toyota Prius V 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"new smartphone will not pair with car bluetooth"
Richard D., TX (2013 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Phone works hands free for awhile, then intermittently, now not at all."
Jed D., TN (2013 Toyota Prius V 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"My Samsung G930v phone running Toyota’s Entune software app keeps rejecting the WiFi/Bluetooth pairing. Dealer is unable to remedy."
Anonymous, TN (2013 Toyota Prius V 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Difficult to pair phone and hold it, then would not work most of time."
Anonymous, CA (2013 Toyota Prius V Five 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"The Entune app stinks and hasn't been updated for my car in years. The bluetooth will sometimes work, then stop working - dealer hasn't been able to fix."
Anonymous, TN (2013 Toyota Prius V Unsure 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"POOR RECEPTION AND POOR SOUND QUALITY"
Anonymous, AB (2013 Toyota Prius V Five 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"The rear speakers in these vehicles barely work"
Anonymous, AK (2013 Toyota Prius V Unsure 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Several recalls due to programs controlling the hybrid drive system. Aggravating and very time consuming updates by dealers only. However, my real issue is, and always has been with the crap software Toyota calls Entune. This all-encompassing program has never been fixed, and the local dealers will not even respond to the well known software problems with the navigation, entertainment and media access."
Anonymous, CO (2013 Toyota Prius V Five 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Chip had to be replaced because of lack of power when passing or entering freeway"
Tim T., MI (2013 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"the software updates were on a recall notice."
Anonymous, CO (2013 Toyota Prius V Two 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"I received a recall notice for a software problem that could cause the car to suddenly lose power. A Toyota dealer fixed it."
Anonymous, OR (2013 Toyota Prius V 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"To expensive to update the Navigation system. GPS in particular."
Anonymous, VA (2013 Toyota Prius V Five 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Voice control is SIGNIFICANTLY less versitile than I would have expected given how much I paid for the system. You can't just recite an address, for example, to enter it into the GPS"
Michael R., OR (2013 Toyota Prius V Five 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)
"The backup camera is off-center. This means it is actually a dangerous distraction when you are backing up. You must train yourself to _not_ look at the screen for the backup camera (probably a good policy anyway). Unlike some other integrated backup cameras, this one does not provide guides that show where the vehicle is aimed. The camera is also in a location that gets wet when it rains. If it is wet, it is nearly useless (completely blurry). It is useful for two things: 1) Making sure"
