What Owners Say
"Not much more to add. The screen is vy hard to read in bright sunlight. (FWIW, the BMW we own doesn't have this problem.)"
Anonymous, TX (2015 Toyota Prius V 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Display freezes up after message that I have text message. cannot get back to to GPS"
M J., PA (2015 Toyota Prius V Five 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Some times it just freezes. Need to restart the car to unfreeze"
Anonymous, FL (2015 Toyota Prius V Five 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"display screen freezes several times per week. Toyota does not seem to know how to fix it. It is very annoying not to be able to use the radio or navigation when I need it"
Geraldine P., NC (2015 Toyota Prius V Five 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"The entire display screen freezes. You can't use any touch command which means the GPS is useless, the radio is all but useless. The Entune apps are useless. ITS A MAJOR DEFECT. Started at 400 miles of ownership. It has been over one month and Toyota"
Anonymous, CT (2015 Toyota Prius V Four 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Display screen freezes up with temperature "extremes" i.e twice below 34degrees F and once above 78 degrees F. At other times, selected displays act up: sometimes the phone interface, radio controls, and today, temperature and vent controls for a mi"
T N., NC (2015 Toyota Prius V Five 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"The display screen will freeze at various times. Sometimes it happens immediately after starting the car and continues to freeze repeatedly during the trip. At other times the screen will go entire trips without freezing"
Gordon S., FL (2015 Toyota Prius V Five 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"The touch screen stops responding. It really isn't serious except for one issue: it first happened on the drive home from buying it at the dealer, and it happens frequently enough for me to be annoyed"
Carole W., CA (2015 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"This problem has occurred since the vehicle was purchased new. Took it to the dealer several times and was told there was no fix available. Asked Toyota to repair or replace the defective electronics but was denied."
Anonymous, IA (2015 Toyota Prius V Four 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Touch screen will not work, some functions become unavailable"
Jon P., MT (2015 Toyota Prius V Four 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"replaced infotainment head system"
Mark C., TX (2015 Toyota Prius V 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Software issues required a fix to be performed by the dealer to stop the touch screen from freezing up daily"
Travis B., UT (2015 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"The touchscreen stops working. (Screen still displays properly, but you can't manipulate anything on it.)"
Chris F., NH (2015 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Screen froze multiple times and had to be replaced. When it did that GPS addresses, phone pairing and other info had to be reentered"
Ron T., CT (2015 Toyota Prius V Five 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Defect in the Entune system caused the entire system to freeze when heat soaked. Required a replacement unit after multiple trips to the dealer"
Anonymous, MN (2015 Toyota Prius V Four 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"The display will go through periods where it either boots slowly or freezes then reboots during my drive time. I believed this to be due to a bluetooth drivers issue, but the issue continued to happen when my phone was unpaired with the system. it's not a regularly occurring issue, so I haven't bothered to try to get it fixed by the dealership"
Anonymous, MD (2015 Toyota Prius V 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"When it was sunny and above 70 degrees outside, the display screen would not only freeze, but it would act like someone was touching the screen randomly. If my home screen was up, this meant that it would sometimes start a phone call with one of my contacts listed on the screen. This was scary when it startled me on a trip when I was in heavy traffic around Dallas (I live in Indiana). I was looking for an exit, monitoring stop-and-start traffic, and trying to hang up the phone from the steering"
Anonymous, IN (2015 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"The screen will sometimes freeze when trying to connect with bluetooth"
Anonymous, IL (2015 Toyota Prius V Two 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Screen would freeze up. Had to turn car off to fix. Eventually the dealer found a Toyota bulletin telling them how to fix. No issues since"
Anonymous, VA (2015 Toyota Prius V Five 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"especially when using phone or GPS, the screen gets stuck"
Kathleen E., MA (2015 Toyota Prius V 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Whole system would freeze-replaced under warranty"
Patricia N., MD (2015 Toyota Prius V Four 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Display would freeze up on occasion. Also, navigation system is very poor compared to Google Maps - so I use my Android Phone onboard rather than the built-in navigation sysytem"
Steve F., MO (2015 Toyota Prius V Four 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"That's pretty much it. It screen would freeze and I'd have to reboot it. They replaced the whole unit under warranty; no more problems."
David B., OH (2015 Toyota Prius V Five 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"display freezing up in summer"
Anonymous, IL (2015 Toyota Prius V Five 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"display screen justy freezes up"
Jay P., CA (2015 Toyota Prius V Four 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"That is the problem. The Display screen freezes up so you cannot use the screen via your finger tip to change radio stations, from CD to radio or to the navigation system. All of the audio functions are still workable via the controls on the steering wheel so that is not a huge problem. It does not have any adverse effect on the drive-ability of the vehicle. Once the car is turned off and then back on the system returns to normal. It does not bother me enough to have it removed and replaced or fixed."
Tom C., OR (2015 Toyota Prius V Four 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Screen would freeze up almost every trip. Dealer fixed problem with software update."
John S., OR (2015 Toyota Prius V Four 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Dealer determined the entire info-entertainment device was faulty and replaced it under warranty."
Wade W., CA (2015 Toyota Prius V 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Weird things happen to the entertainment system, such as saying it doesn't recognize stations we've had for years. The system just seems buggy."
Bill M., MI (2015 Toyota Prius V 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Routine interior temperature renders touch screen inoperable. System mysteriously recycles after extended play on long trips."
Ruth C., FL (2015 Toyota Prius V Four 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"At seemingly random intervals the navigation stops and the screen is frozen. A restart of the system is required to get it working again. At other times it will reboot on its own and if navigating, the destination must be reentered."
Anonymous, NC (2015 Toyota Prius V Four 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Can only unfreeze the screen by turning the engine off and restarting."
Anonymous, WA (2015 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"screen replaced by dealer under warranty"
Anonymous, NJ (2015 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"On-dash display screen with GPS navigation and entertainment systems commonly freezes while driving. Have to reset the system to engage again. Annoying for the music part, but a big problem for GPS use."
Patrick B., MI (2015 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"The touchscreen would freeze, then randomly act as though I were touching different parts of the screen, so it would activate systems, such as phone or radio, unexpectedly"
Anonymous, IN (2015 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Display screen touchscreen stops working, so it seems to freeze up."
Chris F., NH (2015 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Screen freezes for brief time. Once all went down, no screen, no CD or radio. Resumed within 2 minutes. GPS is very touchy electronically and drops navigation while on the road. I no longer to bother using it. Use my Garmin GPS. Toyota dealer says it isn't a problem if I can't have it happening when I arrive there. They haven't heard other complaints. There's info on web stating there's A PROBLEM. Our independent mechanic states he sees the problem on the web but the car behaved when they drove it. This is Toyota's problem. Now mine. Boeing said their new planes operated fine too."
Spencer R., WI (2015 Toyota Prius V 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"The display system very occasionally goes blank when the headlights are turned on."
Anonymous, MA (2015 Toyota Prius V Unsure 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"The screen goes blank on cold mornings and won't come back until the car warms up, gets turned off, and is then restarted."
Anonymous, IL (2015 Toyota Prius V Two 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"All problems were related and continued until the whole system completely stopped working. Toyota eventually replace the entire unit"
Anonymous, FL (2015 Toyota Prius V 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Once or twice a week the system cuts out for about a minute."
Paul T., CT (2015 Toyota Prius V Five 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Problem with the touch screen. No response to touches three times in the last three months. Intermittent problem. Off for two months, off for two days, or off for a day"
Anonymous, HI (2015 Toyota Prius V Two 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"not resolved, frequently"
Anonymous, CT (2015 Toyota Prius V Five 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Hard to new destinations. screen freezes up. Very frustrating"
M J., PA (2015 Toyota Prius V Five 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Besides freezing up, the GPS is really out of date. It directs me to stores that have moved 8 years ago and roads that were eliminated a long time ago. I have to play google maps through the speakers to find anything recent. It is much worse that"
Geraldine P., NC (2015 Toyota Prius V Five 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Display screen freezes. Drops navigation and I'm not aware, still thinking I'm being guided. Must be reprogrammed once I realize I'm in the wrong place. Radio can be taken over by gremlins and it jumps to a different station that I can't escape from. Toyota denies all. Web says otherwise."
Anonymous, (2015 Toyota Prius V Unsure 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"GPS system has always been difficult if not impossible to use. I use my smartphone instead."
Anonymous, (2015 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"When driving the vehicle for more than 10-15 minutes, the GPS (and the radio) will often freeze or go blank. I have to hold the tuning button down for a 6 count to reset the system. With GPS, this means you have lost the destination and have to reset. It is something you don't want to have happen while driving, especially if you are in traffic on the way to your destination. Suddenly, you have lost your directions. Dealer said it would cost $300+ to repair. I bought a Garmin in car GPS for $110 instead. Further, the dealer told me the Toyota GPS maps need to be updated and that costs about $150 per time. My Garmin comes with free updates. Toyota builds good cars, but this aspect is a disgrace. They have known about this for at least 5 years and have failed to help owners."
Anonymous, MI (2015 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Unit freezing, head replaced. Poor voice recognition. Lousy map coverage. Expensive map updates. Will never buy another Toyota with that system"
Robert R., BC (2015 Toyota Prius V Four 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Car is very sensitive to high-tension wires, and the entire nav system and radio will freeze up or suddenly change scales or start making telephone calls on its own. So far, dealers have been unable to stop the problem!"
Anonymous, CA (2015 Toyota Prius V Four 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"cannot program destination"
Anonymous, WA (2015 Toyota Prius V Five 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Screen is vy hard to read in bright sunlight. Very annoying. Nav system is very hard to use and read. These systems shd be instinctual, but Toyota hasn't got it right in this car"
Anonymous, TX (2015 Toyota Prius V 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"GPS frequently locks up. GPS software was outdated when sold brand new. GPS sometimes has issues linking to satellites"
Kelsey M., TX (2015 Toyota Prius V Four 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"We had to pay $200 for an GPS update that fixed the problem with the unit from the date of purchase. We hope Toyota does better in our next car"
James L., IN (2015 Toyota Prius V Five 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"System freezes"
Kathleen E., MA (2015 Toyota Prius V 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"System fails to work when vehicle has been parked in the sun and the outside temperature is above 72 degrees,"
James D., WI (2015 Toyota Prius V 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Tremendous nuisance to program and use. Unable to make an annoying voice shut up. Thus it is unused. I consider it a waste of money to have purchased it. I much prefer using Waze or google map to plan a route between points A and B."
Robert S., CA (2015 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"While driving in an unfamiliar city, the GPS froze and then went blank. It would not reset. The only way I got out of town was to follow the sun to get to the freeway and then follow a path that I know. I now carry my old Garmin as a backup for directions."
Marie W., CA (2015 Toyota Prius V Five 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Difficulty in starting GPS and errors in directions"
Paul T., CT (2015 Toyota Prius V Five 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"While driving, the navigation system will often either freeze or completely kick-out of the destination unexpectedly. Seems to happen after driving for at least 30 minutes. Bought a Garmin GPS to have a navigation system. Repair not offered by Toyota dealership for reasonable prices. Also, map updates for GPS are ridiculously expensive (ca $165). Garmin updates are free."
Patrick B., MI (2015 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"GPS is untrustworthy. At any point it may drop navigation. I've lost it on very busy 8 lane roads where I was absolutely depending for guidance. I've lost it on short trips on open roads. No reason I can tell. Usually I am unaware I'm no longer being guided, just being told where I am. There's no information indicating that guidance has been dropped. This is especially troubling if I have other screens displaying and am operating on the auditory directions that have periods of silence normally."
Spencer R., WI (2015 Toyota Prius V 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Erroneous, inaccurate and questionable directions. For. example, “Why is taking us this way? when you know there are much better. Causes concern when driving and sometimes indecision while doing causing a possible driving safety issue."
Daniel Q., VA (2015 Toyota Prius V 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"very poor voice recognition. Very complex interface"
Andrew G., CA (2015 Toyota Prius V 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"I usually have both a Bluetooth phone and an iPad. Both are paired with the car. Often the car will consider the iPad the paired phone even though the iPad is not a phone. This can be overridden, but then reoccurs in subsequent starts of the car"
Gordon S., FL (2015 Toyota Prius V Five 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Paired phone several times but stays paired briefly and has to be done again"

Ron T., CT (2015 Toyota Prius V Five 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"The bluetooth will not pair with my phone at times"
Anonymous, IL (2015 Toyota Prius V Two 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"When Entune system fails all parts fail. IF I'm listening to the radio it may change stations and refuse to return to old station."
Anonymous, (2015 Toyota Prius V Unsure 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"This radio has lousy sound quality and the equalizer doesn't even work right. Dealer Moss Bros. Moreno Valley refuses to believe that there is anything wrong with this radio!"
Anonymous, CA (2015 Toyota Prius V Five 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"The touch screen works intermittently on the radio/USB/CD player. Most controls are duplicated on the steering wheel though. Reported to Toyota on a quality survey years ago. They never followed up."
Anonymous, VA (2015 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"After driving for 15-20 minutes, often the radio resets on its own, or goes blank. It is irritating. Cost to repair from dealer is over $300 and it is a known defect of their system. Disgraceful for Toyota to do this to purchasers."
Anonymous, MI (2015 Toyota Prius V Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"screen freezes can't change radio stations"
Thomas B., NC (2015 Toyota Prius V Four 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"radio would go on and off and change stations by itself. It was replaced by Toyota"
