I have contacted two dealers and they do not have the replacement parts in stock and they do not know when they will receive them. Toyota has sent out an alert but the local dealership and regional Toyota folks have been distinctly unhelpful. I think it's because we have not used them for servicing and maintenance. They ordered a replacement part on low priority in January and we haven't seen action by now, at the end of May. They asked for receipts from my mechanic, but then asked for the reasons we replaced the bulbs repeatedly, as if burning out were not sufficient (and about which they had themselves sent notice out as being a problem). Charles N., CA (2010 Toyota Prius 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)"Rapid lamp burnout. I get maybe 3-6 months of use in a car that is driven a short distance to and from work and some errands. There is an extended warranty out for the problem, but when you talk to the dealer, they will dance you around and tell you that if they don't find anything wrong, they will charge you for the diagnostic. How is that for a scam? Maybe they find something wrong; they fix it; then they tell you nothing was wrong and bill you for the service. That is one thing I detest about Toyota and Toyota service. They run you around, and their customer service is a joke. The engineer that designed the location and access to the low beam headlights should be--OK, I can't think of an appropriate punishment. An attempt to remove and replace the passenger side low beam headlight will cause cuts and scrapes on your hand and arm, that is, if you can get your hand anywhere near the light bulb."

I easily went through several hundred dollars of $15.00 bulbs before Toyota issued what they referred to as an Extended Warranty. This warranty replaced the electrical wire harnessing on both sides of my Prius.
