Despite a light freshening for 2012, Tacoma was beginning to show its age at this point. Still, the utilitarian, practically bulletproof machine excels in hauling, towing, and off-road use--though not much else. The smooth and punchy V6 powertrain is a saving grace. Still though, for everyday driving or commuting, the Tacoma feels dated and uncomfortable.

Owner Reported Trouble Spots

The Reliability score is based on our latest subscriber survey of 2015 Toyota Tacoma owners. The owner comments describe problems respondents experienced with this vehicle.

Body Integrity

Squeaks, rattles, wind noises, loose or cracked seals and/or weather-stripping, air and water leaks.

What Owners Say

Air or water leaks

Anonymous, FL (2015 Toyota Tacoma PreRunner 2.7-L 4 Cyl)

"Air leak around front windows"

Anonymous, FL (2015 Toyota Tacoma PreRunner 2.7-L 4 Cyl)
Seals and/or weather-stripping

"Faulty seals on drivers door produce a loud ear piercing howl when vehicle is at highway speed and hit with cross wind, Noise is directly at ear level. It is a known problem well documented in online forums. Dealer will not deal with issue due to their claim if we can't duplicate it we can't fix it. They have never tried to test drive. I consider this a dangerous condition due to the fact the noise is sudden and very loud right next to your ear and makes you react by causing you to cower and pull away from the window."

Craig H., CA (2015 Toyota Tacoma PreRunner 4.0-L V6)

"Driver's side window whistles significantly at 70 MPH and above"

Edward S., MI (2015 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro 4.0-L V6)

"when hit with cross winds we get a high pitched squeal from the seal on the opposite door the wind is blowing from. To be fair, any other time there is no problem with excessive noise, and the truck is very quiet. Toyota recently has a fix for this and after this fix, we have no further problems"

Mark T., SD (2015 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro 4.0-L V6)

"High pitch whistling sound at highway speeds."

Anonymous, OK (2015 Toyota Tacoma PreRunner 4.0-L V6)

The truck has wind noise ( and the 2010 did also ) when hit with a severe crosswind...I've experienced this frequently out West in 30+ winds and also here at home on windy days. It actually makes a whistling noise in the cab that is not steady but sounds when there is a gust."

"rotors were warped covered under 12000 mile warranty.rear drums were warped covered under 12000 mile warranty this sucks consider rotors and drums and ac compressor all important. Being a pick up they should be installing performance brakes from the factory in the first place. The breaks have issues."

Jeff B., CA (2015 Toyota Tacoma PreRunner 4.0-L V6)
