"$37,000 Tacoma TRD Off-Road Extended-Cab has high wind and road noise levels, noticeably louder at highway speeds then the 2019 4Runner. Traded in a bottom trim level 2010 Frontier EX 4-cyl which had less road noise (stock tires both vehicles). Acoustic glass and some actual sound dampening material is sorely needed. Extended cab design with driver/passenger door latching to rear suicide doors is noisier then the double cab."

"While traveling at speed (25-40mph) down or up hill the transmission would hang in a higher gear causing a very high rpm rate for that speed. Only when applying the brake harder then usual for this speed would the transmission slip back down. Usually this happens when coasting not braking or accelerating."

"Gen 3 Tacoma transmission programming (ECU) is a mess even after 4 model years and several programming updates. Obsolete 6sp with very wide ratios 3/4 and 4/5 up-shifts, short-shift programming and immediate torque converter lockup at light to moderate throttle results in very poor throttle response. An 8-sp transmission with closer gear ratios and shift programming that does not sacrifice driving dynamics for the EPA mileage loop should have happened years ago. Toyota truck division is way behind the competition, reliable but obsolete, outdated in many ways."

Sometimes it took an unreasonable amount of force to get the seatbelt to release.
