Owner Reported Trouble Spots

The Reliability score is based on our latest subscriber survey of 2021 Toyota Tacoma owners. The owner comments describe problems respondents experienced with this vehicle.

Brakes

Premature pad/rotor wear, pulsation or vibration, antilock system, parking brake, master cylinder, calipers, squeaking, brake failure, regenerative braking.

What Owners Say

Master cylinder

"Spongy break pedal and brake pedal slowly sank toward the floor"

Anonymous A., TX (2021 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport 3.5-L V6)
Pulsation or vibration

"Vibration felt like warped rotors - occurred within 1st year of vehicle purchase, the dealer "turned" the rotors and bled the brakes. it helped for a bit but pedal was lower and the problem returns. I personally replaced the pad/shoes and rotors and drums. Stopping was better but the pedal still faded. I had the master cylinder replaced which appears to have resolved most of the problem. There may still be an issue with the vacuum assist."

Anonymous A., TX (2021 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport 3.5-L V6)

Climate System

AC compressor, blower (fan) motor, condenser, evaporator, heater system, automatic climate system, electrical failure, refrigerant leakage.

What Owners Say

A/C compressor

"Compressor failed"

Anonymous, PA (2021 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro 3.5-L V6)
Evaporator

"In 2022 Toyota issued a TSB for the evaporator but never got back to me after denying my initial claim in arbitration"

Anonymous, AZ (2021 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-road 3.5-L V6)
