Brakes
Antilock system (ABS), parking brake, master cylinder, calipers, rotors, pulsation or vibration, squeaking, brake failure or wear.
What Owners Say
"As is mentioned in the owner's manual, the anti-lock brakes increase stopping distance in the snow. I have slid through intersections where I know I would not have with out anti-locks."
Doug P., VT (2007 Toyota Tundra Limited 5.7-L V8)"Catastrophic brake failure. With only 62K miles, the ABS Controller failed locking up all four wheels almost causing an accident. After towing to the dealer, I was faced with a $3700 repair bill. Only reason given for the brake failure was age. Reported to the NTSB."
Wade R., AZ (2007 Toyota Tundra Limited 5.7-L V8)"ABS actuator had to be replaced on a vehicle with only 76,000 miles at a cost of $2,700. This is very unusual. We are very disappointed"
Anonymous, FL (2007 Toyota Tundra SR5 5.7-L V8)"Warning light for both ABS and stability control was illuminated while driving on a long trip a few days ago while pulling a trailer. It was raining at the time. We laid over for the night and when we started up the truck the next morning the dash warning lights had reset. I assume that a wheel sensor may be failing, however as of now the problem has not returned"
Duncan C., TX (2007 Toyota Tundra SR5 5.7-L V8)"The right rear speed sensor failed causing the following systems to not work. Antilock brakes/4 wheel drive/automatic skid control. Vehicle had 14,000 miles on it. Repair cost $835. Toyota's are way over rated"
Anonymous, NY (2007 Toyota Tundra SR5 4.7-L V8)"This ABS is dangerous in the snow. It increases stopping distance as mentioned in the owners manual"
Doug P., VT (2007 Toyota Tundra Limited 5.7-L V8)"Had to have a ABS sensor replaced"
Mark H., IN (2007 Toyota Tundra SR5 5.7-L V8)"Rear caliper broke but brakes were still operable."

Greg M., ME (2007 Toyota Tundra SR5 5.7-L V8)"right rear brake would not disengage"
J W., AR (2007 Toyota Tundra SR5 5.7-L V8)"The actual fault was with a catastrophic failure of the brake actuator (some call it a master cylinder). Brakes kept locking up almost causing an accident. Also caused all four brake rotors and pads to overheat requiring replacement. Over $4000 dollars to replace (not covered by any warranty). With only 66K miles on the truck, this failure is inexcusable."
Wade R., AZ (2007 Toyota Tundra Limited 5.7-L V8)"Also the break actuator also was bad."
Anonymous, NY (2007 Toyota Tundra SR5 4.7-L V8)"The VSC light would not go off."

Anonymous, NH (2007 Toyota Tundra SR5 5.7-L V8)"Pads worn out after 53000. It's not unusual for me to get over 100K miles, before having to replace the pads. So it seemed a little premature to me."
M T., WV (2007 Toyota Tundra SR5 5.7-L V8)"Not aware of the issues until a routine oil/filter change time and the had them fixed"
Paul S., (2007 Toyota Tundra SR5 5.7-L V8)"Had to be replaced at 50000 miles. My last two vehicles went over 90000 miles before needing replacement. May be partially my fault as the vehicle is parked outside, letting the rotors rust, thus causing the brakes to wear quicker."
Anonymous, WV (2007 Toyota Tundra SR5 5.7-L V8)"Not a problem. Just needed to have front brake pads replaced"
John M., CA (2007 Toyota Tundra Limited 5.7-L V8)"When replacing tires, the shop pointed out that the brakes were due for replacement."
G M., OH (2007 Toyota Tundra SR5 4.7-L V8)"Had the brake pads replaced, calipers were fine"
C R., TX (2007 Toyota Tundra Limited 5.7-L V8)"too expencive to replace"
Anonymous, ON (2007 Toyota Tundra Base 5.7-L V8)"67k on front brakes is normal. Rotors could not be resurface because no eqt. made to turn them on"
Brent H., OH (2007 Toyota Tundra SR5 5.7-L V8)"Just normal wear on front brakes"
Anonymous, SC (2007 Toyota Tundra SR5 5.7-L V8)"The joint mechanism from front cable to spilt back cables was rusted to point of not able to release cables properly causing overheated emergency brake drum and bad vibration and early rear caliper failure from heat."
Greg S., PA (2007 Toyota Tundra SR5 5.7-L V8)"The parking brake is a bad design and needs frequent maintenance, at least where I live with gravel roads and snow."
Doug P., VT (2007 Toyota Tundra Limited 5.7-L V8)"Due to lack of use, the parking brake needed a lot of work. I got all new parts"

Anonymous, MA (2007 Toyota Tundra SR5 5.7-L V8)"the brake system is the ONLY issue my husband has ever said he feels have been inadequate on this vehicle. It has been constant squeaking they cannot fix saying "it is the pads" each and every time he has had them replaced. He has only used used Toyota dealership/ parts for repairs."
Anonymous, (2007 Toyota Tundra Limited 5.7-L V8)"brakes pulsated when applied at highway speeds. plan on replacing front calipers and rotors"

Anonymous, MA (2007 Toyota Tundra Unsure 5.7-L V8)"Rotors were worn out after only 52000 miles, seems premature to me. Could be though, it is partially my fault. I park the vehicle outside and drive it infrequently, so the rotors develop a slight rust. So when I first drive it, I'm in essence, sanding the rotors down."
M T., WV (2007 Toyota Tundra SR5 5.7-L V8)"poor breaking all around. Rotors warp easily"
Anonymous, TN (2007 Toyota Tundra Limited 5.7-L V8)"I have replaced the front rotor 4 times since new. Could not find a cause at first. My regular mechanic discovered that the airspace between the outer and inner rotors was clogged with dirt and mud. We surmised that this has caused brake rotor overheating and warped rotors!! I drive on rural roads, and one would think that Toyota would assume that the rotors would get clogged if the rotors were not shielded in some way from mud and dirt. Maybe they should talk to someone who actually uses these trucks in 4WD conditions!!!"
Stephen S., CO (2007 Toyota Tundra Limited 5.7-L V8)"Rotors were replaced at the same time the pads were replaced at the tire store."
G M., OH (2007 Toyota Tundra SR5 4.7-L V8)"Because the calipers would not release the rotors were scored and needed to be replaced"
