What Owners Say
"Had to replace the battery due to it won't hold a charge. The battery was approximately 3 years old"
Anonymous, TX (2007 Ford F-150 XLT 4.5-L V8)"This was a typical battery failure. I've owned the vehicle for 9 years. this is the second battery I've had to replace."
Anonymous, TX (2007 Ford F-150 King Ranch 5.4-L V8)"Every coil pack needed to be replaced over the last 12 months, costing an average of 80.00 each"
Anonymous, MA (2007 Ford F-150 FX2 5.4-L V8)"We took the truck to Heritage Ford in Modesto because the engine was dieseling. They told us the problem was the cam phasers. They didn't even start work on the truck until it had been there a whole week. It was still under a partial warranty so only cost $100 to fix. A week after we got it out of the shop there was still a problem. We put it back in the shop, now the warranty was expired. Now they wanted to charge $2000 to fix it. We told them to forget it. We put a tester on that indicated it"
Debra B., CA (2007 Ford F-150 FX2 5.4-L V8)"#7 ignition coil failed and the repair was $270. Truck was drivable but lacked power."
Anonymous, TX (2007 Ford F-150 Lariat 5.4-L V8)"Ford only had to replace coils bad at the time of the class action. They should have been required to replace them all. I still have at least on major coil give out every year, and always have a stutter from the coil issue when demanding needs going up a hill. The issue does not trip the on board computer, so hard to track it down. Out of eight, I have had to replace 4 so far."
Anonymous, ME (2007 Ford F-150 Lariat 4.5-L V8)"All eight coils And plugs have been replaced twice. It is an extremely difficult and expensive job. No shop really wants to do it as the ceramic plugs can break off In place."
Anonymous, NY (2007 Ford F-150 XLT 5.4-L V8)"truck started running rough"
Herman J., KY (2007 Ford F-150 XLT 5.4-L V8)"The coil that is over each spark plug causes the engine to buck so badly, you can not drive it. It seems that the recall on these problems, was only to address broken coils and spark plugs and not all of them. After they fixed the recall two years ago, I have been back three times for three other cylinder repairs for coils"
Sean G., ME (2007 Ford F-150 Lariat 4.5-L V8)"Missing at times. Replace bad coil on 1 cylinder and spark plugs"
Anonymous, TX (2007 Ford F-150 King Ranch 5.4-L V8)"All 8 ignition coils had to be replaced. Engine light came on. Had to have it serviced a long way from home. One coil replaced there at a high cost. Remaining coils replaced by home mechanic."
Anonymous, CA (2007 Ford F-150 Unsure 5.4-L V8)"a chip needed to be replaced that allowed the starter to connect with the engine. This problem came on without warning, and I had to have my vehicle towed. Then, the vehicle worked again, until a week later, then died for good. The charge for the repair - this is just a pull out the chip and replace it, was over $ 800.00 this is not realistic, and double what it should be. the cost of the part, was about $ 125.00"
Sean G., ME (2007 Ford F-150 Lariat 4.5-L V8)"Nothing against a good F150. This in not one of them. Failed to start. Ignition replaced. This is second major repair (hey, it's a 2007). This a farm truck. It's needed to get materials from A to B. All I can say is it failed when I needed it for a time critical job."
Anonymous, NS (2007 Ford F-150 Unsure 4.5-L V8)"My local dealer kept putting me off that I had Amy problems. After the third time, I went to another Ford Dealer. The spark plug issue was huge, and expensive. I was very unhappy with the rebate I got, covering less than half the cost. I doubt I will buy another Ford truck"
Sean G., ME (2007 Ford F-150 Lariat 4.5-L V8)"I had to replace all the sparks plugs and 2 coil packs in the past year because the engine was running very poorly"
Anonymous, TX (2007 Ford F-150 XLT 4.5-L V8)"Two piece spark plugs break off. Had to use a removal tool to avoid paying 50+$ per plug at the dealer"

Anonymous, NC (2007 Ford F-150 Lariat 5.4-L V8)"they used a 2 piece spark plug for this engine and its very expensive to have the plugs replaced. I have had auto repair facilities tell me that they wouldn't even touch it....When the plugs are replaced the life of the 2 piece plugs are not long at all."
Anonymous, FL (2007 Ford F-150 Lariat 5.4-L V8)"The reason I reported my latest repairs as significant was the ridiculous cost my local Ford dealership charged for the repairs. To replace the coil, one spark plug, and the ABS control module was $1800. I'll be looking for a new shop next time."
