2009 Toyota Yaris Owner Satisfaction - Consumer Reports
The Yaris is offered as a hatchback and a sedan. Either will deliver excellent fuel economy and a very good ride, although handling is sloppy and unforgiving at its limits. Acceleration is adequate, but the engine is noisy at high revs. Stopping distances for our non-ABS equipped hatchback were extremely long.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Owner Satisfaction with:

Driving Experience

Includes acceleration and handling

What Owners Say

"The ride is rough on bad pavement and the seats are only comfortable up to two hours."

Jessica M., WA (2009 Toyota Yaris)

"It has a very tight turning radius and that can be most useful at times. The size is a plus because parking spaces become narrower all the time."

J K., CA (2009 Toyota Yaris)

"Road noise is horrible"

Danny A., OH (2009 Toyota Yaris)

"Like driving standard car as it is responsive and handles well."

Anonymous, BC (2009 Toyota Yaris)

"This is a small car. It accelerates slowly with three or four people. However, as a family car using around town, it is more than fine."

Matt B., OH (2009 Toyota Yaris)

"Its fast enough to get me in trouble.I let a friend who has a Mini Cooper drive ,he was amazed at how much faster the Yaris was. He said he paid more for the Mini Cooper and gets less in trade in value"

James R., MA (2009 Toyota Yaris)

"long lasting endurance of such"

John B., TX (2009 Toyota Yaris)

What Owners Say

"Great car no major problem .Runs great handles great More room than some SUVs. Gas milage 35 to 40 mpg"

James R., MA (2009 Toyota Yaris)

"Seats: quite comfortable, plenty of adjustments. Noise: acoustic insulation is low, noise level is a little high, but typical for a subcompact. Ride: quite good for a short-wheelbase, subcompact. I notice the washboard on some of the dirt roads, but that is not surprising."

Tim S., VT (2009 Toyota Yaris)

"long lasting quality of the comfort"

John B., TX (2009 Toyota Yaris)

"It is still good after 260000 miles"

Bruce J., CT (2009 Toyota Yaris)

Anonymous, NS (2009 Toyota Yaris)

"My Yaris 3 door hatchback with 5 speed manual continues to improve on gas mileage. At 95K I now have crept up from overall 42 to 46. It is amazing for a non hybrid car. I also have driven it on many trips of over 2000-4000 miles and find it very comfortable. For around 12-14000 dollars it was a great value."

BRIAN B., IL (2009 Toyota Yaris)

"When it comes to dependability, it cannot be beat. have not had a single problem yet. Only recall actions. Great car for tooling around town since it is so maneuverable. It accelerates surprisingly well for such a small engine. Never hesitates."
