Guide to alternative fuels and EV charging stations

Find locations for electricity, biodiesel, compressed natural gas, ethanol, hydrogen, liquefied natural gas, and liquid petroleum gas

Published: May 2014

We're happy to present the Alternative Fueling Station Locator, courtesy of the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Energy Effieciency & Renewable Energy and the Alternative Fuels Data Center.

The locator covers thousands of public fueling stations—almost 14,400 as of mid-May—including electricity, biodiesel, compressed natural gas, ethanol E85, hydrogen, liquefied natural gas, and liquid petroleum gas. (The number of stations changes regularly.)

It's easiest to find alternative fueling stations by entering your location on the left side of the tool. If you want to navigate around the map, use your mouse or click on the +/- signs. For those of you on a mobile device, use this version of the locator.

As the Alternative Fuels Data Center notes, contact a fueling station to verify its location, hours of operation, and access. You wouldn't want to drive to a location with your fuel running low only to find out that the station isn't open or has moved.
