Yael’s work at Consumer Reports focuses on digital privacy and cybersecurity. She has written reports, articles, and consumer guidance on a wide variety of topics, including consumer VPNs, memory safety, stalkerware, and people search removal services. She manages CR’s Security Planner, a free, easy-to-use guide to staying safer online, and frequently speaks publicly about digital security.
Experience and Education
Yael has over a decade of experience in investigative tech reporting, with bylines at The Atlantic, Ars Technica, Insider, Popular Science, Vice, Wired, and more. She holds an undergraduate degree in social sciences from Shimer College and a master's degree in journalism from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University.
