    Style and substance

Consumer Reports News: January 08, 2007 03:45 PM

We've heard over and over again auto executives talking about a model's "style." Seems like many are almost going overboard here, with less emphasis being placed on substance.

According to David Champion, Senior Director of Consumer Reports Auto Test Division, there seems to be an unfortunate disconnect.

"I don't think I need to know why the style is good. It either looks good or it doesn't. I also don't see the need to for designers to expound upon why the styling is the way it is."
