Does your password look anything like these?

    123456
    porsche
    firebird
    rosebud
    password

If so, it's time to consider a change. These are among the top 20 most-used passwords on Twitter. If you try to sign up for an account using one of them, Twitter will stop you and require a tougher one.

In fact, these are weak passwords for any online account. The strongest passwords mix upper- and lower-case letters, and use numbers and symbols. They should be a minimum of eight characters. Avoid words you can find in a dictionary, unless you're breaking them up in the middle with a number, for example, hO27usEs!.

Twitter measures the strength of your password as you enter it during sign-up. For other sites, try the Password Meter, which rates the complexity of your password and scores its strength from 0 to 100. The example above, hO27usEs! ranked very strong.
