Honda recalls 2007-2008 Odyssey and Element vehicles

Consumer Reports News: March 16, 2010 01:45 PM

Honda has issued a recall on 344,000 Odyssey minivans and 68,000 Element small SUVs from the 2007-2008 model years due to a number of complaints that the brake pedals felt "soft." Honda says the pedals must be pressed closer to the floor for the vehicle to stop, and the condition slowly increases over time.

The problem occurs because a part in the vehicle's stability control system can let in a small amount of air and affect the braking system. This will not occur in all vehicles, but Honda is encouraging all owners to bring their vehicle in to the dealer for inspection.

Customer notification will begin at the end of April.

Owners can contact Honda at (800) 999-1009 or online at www.recalls.honda.com for further information.
