Nissan has announced a recall on over 500,000 vehicles for problems with brake pedal pins and inaccurate fuel gauges. There have been three reported cases of brake pedal pins that partially disengaged, causing a loss of normal braking. Nissan has determined the problem to be a manufacturing error on a supplier part. The vehicles involved in the brake pedal pins include 2008-2010 Nissan Titan, Armada, Quest, and Infiniti QX56.
For the recall on inaccurate fuel gauges, vehicles with higher mileage may have gauges that do not correctly indicate the amount of fuel left in the tank. As a result, drivers could run out of gas, despite the gauge indicating fuel in the tank. For both issues, all vehicles currently on sale are not affected and no accidents or injuries have been reported.
The vehicles affected by the inaccurate fuel gauge are the 2005-2008 Nissan Titan, Armada and Infiniti QX56 and Nissan Frontier, Pathfinder, and Xterra produced between January and March 2006 and between October 2007 and January 2008.
Owners will be notified to bring their vehicles to the dealership for inspection and possible repair. For those models affected by the inaccurate fuel gauge, Nissan encourages customers to maintain at least an indicated half-tank of fuel until the correction is made.
For more information, contact 1-800-NISSAN1 (1-800-647-7261) or 1-800-662-6200 for Infiniti vehicles.
