Toyota will replace accelerator pedal - if you ask

Consumer Reports News: March 23, 2010 04:16 PM

Toyota has advised its dealers that if customers are not satisfied with their accelerator pedal feel or operation after the sticky-pedal recall has been performed with a shim, then a replacement pedal could be ordered. The replacement would be made at no cost to the consumer. (Also read: " Toyota will pick up cars, provide free loaners for recall service.")

Based on documentation that Consumer Reports has received, Toyota advises:
Accelerator pedal replacement is based upon specific customer request only. Dealers are not to solicit pedal replacement.
In essence, if after the recall work has been performed, dealers have the option to replace the entire pedal assembly with a new one with the factory-fix for potential sticking. But you have to ask for it. This memo applies to the following vehicles:
    2005 - 2010 Avalon
    2007 - 2010 Camry
    2009 - 2010 Corolla
    2010 Highlander
    2009 - 2010 Matrix
    2009 - 2010 RAV4
    2008 - 2010 Sequoia
    2007 - 2010 Tundra
