The first on-track phase for
Automotive X Prize competition is winding down at Michigan International Speedway. Over the past two weeks, teams from around the world brought their entries to the large NASCAR oval to go through technical inspection. If they passed, the cars could go through performance, durability, and emissions tests during this "shakedown." Next month, the cars return for the "knockout" stage, where it truly is make or break.
As we have seen, and chronicled in the
blog and via Twitter
@CRcars, over the past two weeks, the shakedown proved a true challenge and reality check for most teams. We have just learned that Wikispeed and Team FourSight have withdrawn from the competition. Likely, they won't be the last. (Read:

The day is not quite over, but below is the status of this week's competitors showing who has passed or completed the different tests. (Also read: "
