The recalled Hoover WindTunnel T-Series vacuums are the UH70110, UH70120, UH70200, UH70205, and UH70210 models with a manufacturing code ending in O9A, HO9A, JO9A, or KO9A. These Hoover WindTunnel vacuums ($100 to $160) were sold nationwide from August 2009 through May 2010. You'll find the model number and manufacturing code on a label on the lower rear of the vacuum (shown). We have tested some of the recalled Hoover WindTunnel models but did not experience the cord-rewind problem.
The power cord on these vacuums is not properly routed or securely seated in the cord-rewind assembly, according to the CPSC, which lets the power cord get pulled loose. As of the recall date, Hoover had received three reports of minor carpet/furniture burns and one report of a minor burn to a person.
If you own one of the recalled Hoover WindTunnels, don't continue to use it. To arrange for a free repair, call Hoover (888-891-2054, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. ET, Monday). For more details on the recall, go to the recall page on the Hoover Web site.
