Target to launch new discount plan for purchases made with Target cards

Consumer Reports News: June 22, 2010 05:12 PM

Minneapolis-based retailer Target announced earlier this month that starting this fall you can get a 5 percent discount at checkout for in-store or Target.com purchases you make using a Target REDcard, such as the Target credit card, Target Visa credit card, and Target debit card. This discount will replace Target's rewards program. Read more on this program in "Target Bets Credit Discount Will Lead to More Visits" in The Wall Street Journal.

In our 2009 Appliance Shopper Satisfaction Survey of more than 21,000 readers conducted by the Consumer Reports National Research Center, all 10 retailers of small appliances did well, and Target was about average. You'll find full details from our report on the best places to buy large and small appliances in our special section on kitchen remodeling in the August 2010 issue of Consumer Reports, online and on newsstands next week.
