More Tylenol, Motrin, Benadryl products added to recall list

If you haven't cleaned out your medicine cabinet in a while, now is a great time to do so. McNeil Consumer Healthcare subsidiary this week expanded its ongoing recall of tainted over-the-counter medicines to include 21 additional lots of Tylenol, Motrin and Benadryl products. The recalled products—listed below—were produced before January 15, 2010, so you may have purchased them some time ago.

The recall began last November and December when McNeil recalled Tylenol Arthritis caplets because they were contaminated with trace amounts of a chemical called 2,4,6-tribromoanisole, or TBA. The recall has since been expanded to include children's and infant's Tylenol and Motrin products, children's Benadryl, children's Zyrtec and other Tylenol and Benadryl products (the full list of recalled products can be found at www.mcneilproductrecall.com). The TBA chemical gives the tainted products a musty or moldy odor. The health risks of ingesting he chemical are unclear, but there are reports of people experiencing nausea, stomach pain, vomiting or diarrhea after taking the contaminated medications.

If you have any of the newly recalled products listed below, you should stop taking them and contact McNeil for a refund or replacement (Visit their website at: www.mcneilproductrecall.com, or call 1-888-222-6036). If you need the medication for a medical condition, talk to your doctor about your options.
