Recall: 2009-2010 Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia, Saturn Outlook

Consumer Reports News: August 17, 2010 02:17 PM

General Motors is recalling over 207,000 vehicles due to a problem with the second-row seat belts in which an occupant would think the belt is latched when it isn't.

The problem occurs with the second-row seat side trim shield that restricts the upward rotation of the seat belt buckle when the seatback is returned to seating position after being folded flat. The buckle could make contact with the seat frame and become damaged as the seatback is being returned to its upright position. When this occurs, the passenger may find that additional effort is needed to return the seat to its seating position. If force is applied, the buckle cover could partially depress the release button and may not latch or appear jammed.

Dealers will modify the second row seat side trim shield and if the buckle is damaged, it will be replaced. Owners can contact Buick, at 1-866-608-8080, Chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438, GMC at 1-866-966-9463, and Saturn at 1-800-972-8876.
