Starting this fall, you'll get more than free Wi-Fi when you sip a java and cruise the net at Starbucks. The company revealed new details about its plans for the Starbucks Digital Network, which will provide free access for its customers to premium content from Rodale, Nick Jr. Boost, and more.
You'll be able to read articles, get recipes, and watch videos from various Rodale publications, for example, including Men's Health, Runner's World, Women's Health, Prevention, and Organic Gardening.
Nick Jr. Boost will entertain kids with educational games and activities. Those are in addition to items from iTunes, the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Yahoo, and other sites. Starbucks says the links will be to sites that usually are paid sites, or to exclusive content and downloads.
Some content will be geared toward local visitors. A Rodale app will highlight nearby running, walking, and biking routes that pass Starbucks stores along the way, and will include the user's own itineraries as well.
Another participant, DonorsChoose.org, lets users contribute to local classroom projects.
