What your downloaded coupons say about you

Android phone users like pork ribs, read the news, keep their toilet bowls clean, and feed birds. Owners of iPhones prefer chicken, read entertainment magazines, like their counters to sparkle, and feed fish.

That bit of smart-phone user profiling was released today by Coupons.com to help kick off September as National Coupon Month. The company compared which digital coupons iPod and Android owners loaded on their phones using Grocery iQ, its free shopping-list application. The app takes the clipping out of couponing and, with a swipe of your phone, applies the savings at the register check-out. The app has already been downloaded more than 1 million times.

For some statistical fun, here are the leaders in eight popular coupon categories, indexed to the number of coupons printed or loaded on Android smart phones relative to iPhone devices.

Body wash
Android top coupons: men's body wash; iPhone top coupons: women's body wash.

Vitamins
Android: adult or teen multivitamins; iPhone: children's multivitamins.

Personal care
Android: arthritis pain or pain relief patch; iPhone: baby products (excluding trial size).

Pet food (other)
Android: bird food; iPhone: fish food.

Baby needs (other)
Android: disposable swim pants; iPhone: disposable diapers

Dinner meats
