Recall: 2010 Cadillac SRX--Power steering problems

Consumer Reports News: October 07, 2010 03:50 PM

General Motors is recalling over 3,400 Cadillac SRX vehicles equipped with 2.8-liter or 3.0-liter engines due to a problem with the power steering fluid.

Damage to the power steering pressure line may have occurred during the assembly process, which could cause a leak in the power steering fluid. If enough fluid is lost, the driver will hear a noise from the power steering pump and steering could require more effort. If the fluid sprays into hot parts of the engine, a fire could occur.

GM is aware of one fire in an SRX related to this problem. There have been no crashes or injuries as a result.

Dealers will inspect and if necessary replace the power steering line. Owners may call Cadillac for more information at 1-866-982-2339.
