CES 2011 Preview: What we'll see in smart phones

Consumer Reports News: December 29, 2010 09:56 AM

The term "4G" (as in fourth-generation high-speed telecom networks) is starting to become pretty ubiquitous—and Consumer Reports senior electronics editor Mike Gikas expects 4G phones, designed to take advantage of the various carriers' speedy new networks, to be thick on the ground at the Consumer Electronics Show next week.

We may also see more of some cool smart-phone technologies at the show, says Mike, including "near-field communication", or NFC, which allows the wireless exchange of data between devices. The Samsung Nexus S phone is one of the first to incorporate this technology.

Check out our preview video to see what other smart-phone excitement Mike expects to see at CES, and check back here at our blog for breaking news from the show.
