CES 2011: Hands-on with the Samsung Galaxy Player

Consumer Reports News: January 06, 2011 06:30 PM

The white Samsung Gallery Player

The latest addition to Samsung's Galaxy product line, the Galaxy Player, which debuted at CES this year, is something that will inevitably be called the company's iPod touch. In fact, we've already called it that, and now that we've had a chance to play with the product, we're not about to change our minds.

Like Apple's product, the Galaxy Player borrows heavily from smartphone design— in this case, the Galaxy S series. At CES, Samsung showed off both the newly announced Galaxy Player, and the Galaxy Player 50, a version of which has been available in some non-U.S. markets for several months.

No U.S. release date or pricing information is available for either the Galaxy Player or Galaxy Player 50. U.K. pricing is expected to be about £150, or $230.
