Laptop makers at the Consumer Electronics Show are focusing on making computers with high entertainment value, and Acer is definitely one of them: The company announced several new laptops that use the latest processors from Intel and AMD, and all are targeted toward those who want to use their computers for high-def video and other forms of entertainment.
The Aspire 5750, 5750G, and 7750G laptops feature Intel's next-generation Core i7 quad-core processors, which the company says will help drive HD video performance. Hard drives can be as large as 750GB, which is big (up to now) for a laptop.
The 5750 and 5750G laptops have 15.6-inch backlit LED displays with 1366-by-768 resolution, while the 17.3-inch 7750G's resolution is 1600 by 900. The 7750G also comes with an optional Blu-ray drive. Prices for the 5750 and 5750G start at $900, and the 7750G starts at $1,030.
Finally, for those seeking a budget entertainment system, Acer is offering the 5253 series, a 15.6-inch laptop that runs on AMD's new dual-core E-350 processor. It starts at $450.
