If searching for the Netflix icon on your Web-connected device is too taxing, relief is on the way: Netflix has reached deals with 11 TV, Blu-ray, and set-top box manufacturers to add one-button Netflix launching to their remotes.
So far, Sharp, Toshiba, and Sony are adding the button to the remote controls that come with certain Internet TVs. The feature will also be on remotes that come with select Blu-ray players from Dynex (Best Buy's house brand), Haier, Memorex, Panasonic, Samsung, Sharp, Sony, and Toshiba. Roku, Boxee, and Iomega will add the button on the remotes for their respective streaming media settop boxes.
According to a recent report, Netflix users are responsible for about 20 percent of all bandwidth consumption in the U.S during peak hours. Imagine what will happen when people are able to access Netflix with the push of a single button.
Check back for more breaking news on TVs and other electronics at CES 2011.
