CES 2011: Panasonic's Viera tablets can control what you watch on the big screen (video)

Consumer Reports News: January 07, 2011 09:06 AM

Like Vizio and others, Panasonic launched a line of Android tablet computers at CES this year. The Viera tablets will come in three different screen sizes: an iPad-like 10-inch, a Galaxy Tab-like 7-inch, and a smart phone-like 4-inch.

All of the models will offer access to Viera Connect, Panasonic's online video-on-demand and interactive TV service. But in addition to streaming video, the Viera tablets offer an interesting way to control Panasonic's line of Viera TVs.

Along with their basic TV controls, couch potatoes can use a Viera tablet to choose different camera angles of the same program seen on the larger-screened Viera TV. If they like what they see, they can send that point of view to the TV with a flick of a finger.

The tablets are due out in Japan soon, with global availability later this year.
