CR Video: How we test Blu-ray players

Consumer Reports News: January 13, 2011 11:28 AM

It's an exciting time for home entertainment. Sales of high-definition Blu-ray players are steadily growing, and 3D-capable models are starting to make a splash. If you own an HD TV or 3D TV, you'll want a Blu-ray player for the incredible viewing experience it offers.

At Consumer Reports, we have tested over 40 Blu-ray players, which range widely in price (around $80 to $650). Our three main parameters are picture quality, extra features (like USB ports and Web-connection capability), and movie load times. This "In the Labs" video takes you inside our testing lab to see how we evaluate Blu-ray players and what we've found.
