Report: Apple to do away with 10 percent 'restocking' fee at retail stores

Is this becoming a trend among electronics sellers? If so, it's a good one for consumers: Reports today indicate that as of Tuesday, Jan. 11, Apple will no longer charge a 10 percent "restocking" fee when products are returned to its retail stores. That, by the way, is that same day Verizon plans a "special event" which just may be the company's announcement of the Verizon iPhone.

Just a few weeks ago, in the midst of holiday shopping season, retailer Best Buy announced that it would no longer charge restocking fees for returns of nearly all its products.
