Consumer Reports has launched Moto Madness, a bracket-style drivers' choice challenge where readers can vote on their favorite car among structured pairings. Through early April, 32 vehicles will be voted down to just a single champion over three interactive weeks.
The brackets are set up in four categories: sporty cars, SUVs and trucks, practical cars, and performance sedans. With just a few quick clicks, participants can select their favorites among the pairs in a category, then move on to the next group.
To help in making the selections, each vehicle links to a "see details of this matchup" where a basic description of the pair is offered, along with a link to even more information.
The votes can be shared via Twitter and Facebook, and the whole Moto Madness can be shared with Stumbleupon and Reddit.
Our hope is that readers enjoy engaging with this fun microsite and get into the spirit of competition by sharing their votes and challenging their friends to support their picks, or even talk some sideline smack. By using the hashtag #moto, participants can follow engagement in the social networks.
And, if this wasn't fun enough to have users coming back to vote in subsequent brackets, there is an Apple iPad2 give away.
This week's brackets sees several performance rivals vying to move on toward the drivers' choice championship title, including the Ford Mustang GT vs. Chevrolet Camaro SS, Chevrolet Corvette vs. Dodge Viper, and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution vs. Subaru Impreza WRX.
Bracket schedule
The site is free to use, and the goal is to have some fun. Unlike some basketball fantasy brackets, you don't have to commit for the full series. Jump in and vote when you can.
