Could connected cars be targeted by hackers?

Consumer Reports News: March 10, 2011 04:15 PM

Telematic systems are coming to even more vehicles besides those made by General Motors and Ford.

Joining GM OnStar and Ford Sync services are BMW Assist, Hyundai Blue Link, Lexus Enform, Mercedes-Benz mbrace and Toyota Safety Connect and Entunes—all electronic systems that can track their cars' locations, unlock doors, perform remote diagnostics and maybe even stream digital music from the Net using cellular data connections.

And that means your wirelessly-connected car can be hacked remotely, say some scientists.

What do you think? Will drivers have to keep in mind on-line safety as they drive down the road?
