Recall: 2010-2011 Jeep Wrangler—Axle fasteners may loosen

Consumer Reports News: March 08, 2011 03:50 PM

Chrysler is recalling certain Jeep Wranglers from model years 2010 to 2011, manufactured between July 12 and September 10, 2010. Some 20,460 vehicles could have problems because fasteners that secure the front and rear axle attachments to the chassis module may loosen.

This could cause noise and potentially degradation in the steering and handling, leading to loss of directional control of the vehicle and increasing the risk of a crash. Consumers can bring affected vehicles to dealers, who will re-torque all 19 fasteners for free.

For more information vehicle owners can contact Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Vehicle Hotline at 1-888-327-4236, or visit safercar.gov.
