Is Microsoft adding 3D to its popular gaming console? The answer's yes, according to a source cited on the gaming website Eurogamer.
Game sites are speculating that an announcement is likely at the annual video game conference, the E3 Expo, which takes place in early June. The rumored move would enable 3D on consoles with HDMI output, and the technology is supposedly similar to that used by the Sony PlayStation 3.
In January, Microsoft said that although the Xbox 360 was fully capable of supporting 3D games, it was unsure about consumers' interest in that feature.
As it stands now, stereoscopic 3D seems to be a selling point for the PlayStation 3. Gamers with 3D-enabled TVs can access exclusive games such as Killzone 3, as well as third-party titles in "immersive full 3D" such as Call of Duty: Black Ops, writes gaming website IGN.
More information and details about Microsoft's move to embrace stereoscopic 3D are expected to be revealed on June 6, according to IGN.
