UPDATE: 5-27-2011
Skype issued a fix for Windows users.
Access to text and video services is fully functional now, but this morning saw a Skype outage that may have hit Windows users harder than others. The Internet-based communication service quickly sent out a quick fix solution for tech-savvy users to get back online, before service was fully functional for all users again.
Engadget was on top of the news as it occurred by following a burst of tweets about Skype going down. Although Skype downplayed the number of users affected, Engadget called the outage widespread. Engadget was actually able to log into Skype and use both text and video chat, even though they noticed some bugs, specifically with Windows operating systems.
This morning Skype sent the following message to users:
"A small number of you may have had problems signing in to Skype. This predominantly affects people using Skype for Windows. We have identified the problem and will issue a fix in the next few hours."
