Recall: Bell Exodus full-face bike helmets—head injury hazard

Bell Sports, the Consumer Product Safety Commission, and Health Canada have announced the recall of about 31,000 Bell Exodus full-face bike helmets in the United States and an additional 2,500 in Canada because of a head injury hazard. The plastic buckle that connects the chin straps on the product can fail, causing the helmet to fall off the user's head.

Bell Sports, based in Sports Valley, Calif., has received one report of a buckle failing, causing an injury that required stitches below the victim's eye.

The recall includes the following Bell Sports full-face bike helmets:
(The model and part number are on a removable sticker on the side of the helmet)

Orange, Grey, and Black helmet, part number 1003825, model number 035011898025

Blue, grey, gold, white, and black helmet, part number 1006714, model number 035011917719

The helmets were sold at Walmart stores nationwide and on Amazon.com between August 2009 and March 2011 for between $50 and $60.
