There are a lot of contenders for the throne of the tablet computer world. But some of the latest combatants show real promise in the struggle to unseat the royal family, the Apple iPads.
Take the HP TouchPad, one of the three new models recently added to Consumer Reports' tablet computer Ratings (available to subscribers). At first glance, it looks like a slightly chunkier Apple iPad 2. Unlike the Apple tablet, however, the Touchpad uses HP mobile operating system: WebOS.
Web associate editor Carol Mangis lays out the HP TouchPad's pluses and minuses with the crew at Into Tomorrow with Dave Graveline. Click here to listen to this week's Sound Byte podcast. (For more details on the HP TouchPad, see our First Look video on Consumer Reports.)
And let us know what you think: Would you consider an HP TouchPad as a worthy adversary to the Apple iPad?
About Sound Bytes
Every week, Consumer Reports experts produce a short (less than two minutes in length) audio segment which covers a wide variety of issues regarding consumer electronics and technology. These small "sound bites" can be heard on Into Tomorrow with Dave Graveline. The Sound Byte that is featured in the Consumer Reports Electronics Blog is a segment that aired on last weekend's Into Tomorrow over-the-air broadcast.
About Into Tomorrow
Now in its 16th year, Into Tomorrow with Dave Graveline covers the Latest in Consumer Electronics & Technology available today and... into tomorrow. Into Tomorrow is also heard around the world on the Armed Forces Networks in several other countries. You can also catch all Into Tomorrow episodes on the Web.
