Is Google really the best Internet search engine? Maybe not.

Good news for Google: It's still the most-used search engine on the Web, according to one report. The not-so-good news: The same report suggests other search engines seem to produce better results.

Last week, market researcher Experian Hitwise released its latest market share figures for search engines. In July, Google accounted for a lion's share—more than 66 percent—of all Web searches. Microsoft's Bing search engine, which also powers Yahoo.com's search portal, came in a distant second. Bing.com and Yahoo totaled more than 28 percent—12.98 and 15.07, respectively. The remaining 73 Web search engines account for the remaining traffic—nearly six percent of search requests.

But the same Experian report also mentions that the "success rate"—when users click on a link in a search engine's result page—for Google is nearly 68 percent. By comparison, Yahoo and Bing achieved 81 and 80 percent success rates, respectively, last month.

Could this mean Bing produces "better" matches to Web surfers' online queries? What do you think? Have you tried other search engines such as Bing and found websites that more closely matched what you were looking for?
