McAfee launches WaveSecure, antitheft/privacy-protection app for iPhone

Antivirus software company McAfee released an anti-theft app for iPhones today. Called WaveSecure, the app protects consumers' private information in the event that their iPhones are lost or stolen—and could even help you get the phone back.

The WaveSecure app lets you back up your contacts, photos, and videos on the iPhone: If the phone is lost, stolen, or damaged you'll be able to restore your data, says the company; your data is also available via a Web browser.

The app lets you track your phone's location, too, should it be lost or stolen. You can remotely lock down your device and wipe important data as well.

WaveSecure is available at the Apple App Store for $19.99. It's also available for Android, BlackBerry, Symbian, and Windows Mobile platform devices.
