Fujifilm this morning announced the X10 digital camera, a new point-and-shoot with a retro look and some premium features, including a large CMOS sensor, a 4X manual barrel zoom lens that also serves as an On/Off switch, and an "extra bright" viewfinder with a 20-degree field of vision.
The 12-megapixel Fujifilm X10's sensor uses Fujifilm's EXR technology to auto-select the best shooting mode "from a total of 99 different variations," says the company's press release. It also allows for high-speed continuous shooting, up to 7 frames per second at full resolution.
To turn the camera on, you just turn the lens ring--a feature Fujifilm says allows for fast start-up, so you don't miss those spontaneous shots.
Other features include image stabilization, bokeh and "super-macro" capability, several manual shooting modes, the ability to shoot in RAW format, HD video recording, and for nostalgic film-photography buffs, several modes that simulate the look of several Fujifilm films.
Look for the Fujifilm X10 in early November. No pricing information is available as yet.
